Be it known that I, FRANK DUNHAM, a
citizen of the United States, and a resident
of New York, county and State of New
York, have invented certain new and useful
Improvements in Clothes-Driers, of which
the following is a full, clear, and exact
specification.
This invention relates to a class of devices.
3.or driers adapted for use in conjunction,
with hot water boilers, steam pipes and
radiators by which the heat therefrom may
be utilized for drying clothes, or the like.
My invention has for its object primarily
to provide a form of drier of simple, inex
pensive and efficient construction which may
be readily applied to hot water boilers, steam
pipes and radiators for supporting clothes,
towels, and various articles of household lin
2 ens after being washed and which is adapted
to receive and transmit stafficient heat there
from for utilization in drying the wet arti
cles, and this is accomplished by providing
one or a plurality of tubular devices or
brackets having a substantially U-shaped
body and a supporting arm which is adapt
ed to be removably held to said boilers,
steam pipes or radiators. :
A further object of the invention is to
provide efficient means adapted to permit
the tubular devices to be conveniently at
tached or detached from the boilers, pipes
or radiators and which will allow a desired
number of said devices to be simultaneously
employed. ,??

In practice my clothes drier 10 may be
made in the desired sizes so as to be applied
to any hot water boiler, or steam or hot air
pipe, as 11° of any diameter. The drie
10 consists mainly of a tubular device of
bracket 12 and one or a plurality of strips
or bands or supporting elements 13. The
strips or bands 13 may be made of sheet 65
metal or heavy wire, the ends of which are
bent outwardly to form a flange, as 14 and
15, and in both of said flanges is provided
an opening through which is passed a thumb
screw 16 for firmly tightening the bands 70
when directed around a hot water boiler or
steam pipe. Each of the strips or bands
or supporting elements 13 may be formed
of a single piece of material or comprise two
strips or members 17 and 18, each having an 75
apertured flange upon the ends thereof
which may be also connected by similar
thumb screws. The strips 13 or members
thereof are corrugated or provided at inter
vals with extending curved parts 20 so as 80
to form a plurality of spaces 21 between
said curved parts and the boiler or pipe
wen the strips are positioned thereon.

formed by curving a tube so as to provide a

or openings 26 for passage therethrough of
the heat which is received by the device 12. 00
