Notes:
The service manual is designed to support Level 1 of a two-level service strategy. Level 1 (on-site)
field service employs modular replacement of printed circuit boards and other assemblies that are
most effectively repaired at a central repair facility.
See Section 1.3 for additional information regarding the VISUCAM 200/500 service strategy.
The procedures in this manual assume that the reader is familiar with operation of the instrument.
Complete operating instructions are contained in the VISUCAM 200/500 User Manual. Information
presented in the user manual is not repeated in this service manual.
Modules and spare parts that can be changed by service staff without any special training being
required are not described in this manual. Such information is provided in section “Maintenance and
care“ of the User Manual. The user manual can be ordered separately by standard Zeiss parts order.
Update revisions to this service manual will be issued by Service Bulletin, as required.

1.1.2 Conventions
The following conventions apply in this manual:
Left and Right sides of the instrument is as viewed from the operator view of the instrument,
unless noted otherwise.
All tool sizes for screws and nuts mentioned in the instructions are metric unless noted other-
wise.
Your service bulletins should be stored where easily accessible for quick reference.

2.1.1 Checkout
Checking the control and camera functions
Please also note the relevant information in the user manual!
This function test must be performed after every service activity.
A print-out of this page, where the check boxes can be hooked (), might be helpful.
2.1.2 Maintenance
The system normally does not require servicing. However, we recommend one maintenance checkup
per year under a service contract. Please also see the notes on safety checks, maintenance and care in
the user manual.
Cleaning
The optical surfaces can be cleaned using a 9:1 ether-alcohol mixture, a special optics cleaning
mixture (SM-30-8005-32) or methanol
Note
If you have national rules for electrical safety, SB 400 is in force only analogous. In this case
you have to fulfill the values of your national standards (e.g. NFPA 99, AAMI ES-1).
Only qualified technicians shall perform these tests. Qualification shall include training on the subject,
knowledge, experience, and acquaintance with the relevant technologies and regulations. The
technician shall be able to assess safety and shall be able to recognize possible consequences and
hazards arising from non-conforming equipment.
Check that the housing (in particular the ventilation slots) is undamaged and free from
contamination.
Check all cables (in particular the insulation) for damage.
Check that all notes and labels are complete and correctly positioned using the user manual.
− The measuring results must be documented in the technical safety check report (See SB 400)
Procedure:
For all measurements and tests during the electrical safety check please use the two points according
to Figure 2 – 1 and Figure 2 – 2.

Note
Removing the covers is precondition for all following action to camera head components. It
is not repeatedly mentioned at the beginning of each section.
Removal:
1) Remove the screws of the upper cover and
lift off the upper cover.
2) Remove the focusing knobs on both sides.
Note
To loosen the focusing knobs, take a
large slot screwdriver to keep the screw
in place. Then turn the focusing knob
clockwise to loosen it.
Do not try to turn the screw itself.
Reassembly:
Make sure that no cables are caught when you push the housing covers together.
IR illumination

Removal:
1) Remove the two locking screws.
2) Remove the cable fasteners and unplug the cable on
the control PCB.
3) Carefully pull out the IR illumination.
Different flash lamp versions are used in VISUCAM 200 and VISUCAM 500:
Note
Version 2 produces more light at the same flash level. It should not be used in VISUCAM 200,
because this will lead into a loss of fine adjustment steps using the manual flash.
Removal:
With modification 11 installed, start with step 1).
Without modification 11 start with step 6) “Remove the two screws…”, page 10
2) Move the instrument head fully upward by turning the Joystick clockwise till the hard stop is
reached.

Caution!
Make sure that the instrument is turned off and the flash lamp has cooled down before
touching and exchanging it.
Note
Do not touch the bulb of the flash lamp with your fingers.
Locking nut
Reassembly
1) Observe the guiding of the 400V cable! See Section: 3.1.3.3 400V Cable Routing, page 3 - 11.
Close the Protection Cover using two screws.
2) Depending on the presence of modification 11 “Lamp Housing”, close the metal cover by its 3
fixation clips.
Without modification 4 :
Guide the cable as shown in Fig. 3 – 11. Mount
the protection cover from the flash lamp.
With modification 4 :
Beginning from the peak, the red 400V
Cable has to be wrapped around the As high as possible
white Flash Lamp cable three times,
before being fixed to the flash lamp
holder.
The 400V Cable should surround the
Flash Lamp Cable as long as possible.
This routing will reduce the
electromagnetic influence while a flash is
generated.
As low as possible
Note
Depending on the presence of modification 4 “400V Cable Routing”, the cable and its
routing might differ from the way shown in this section.

Removal:
Control
Depending on the presence of modification 11
“Lamp Housing”, you might have to remove a
metal cover first. For more details see Section
3.1.3.2 “Flash Lamp replacement”, page 3 - 9. Shield
Reassembly:
Slide the cables into the clamping connections as far as possible, and check for proper connection.
Note
For better access to the ring stop module the exciter filter assembly should be removed.
See Section: 3.1.6.2 Exciter Filter assembly page, 3 - 15.
Removal:
1) Loosen the cable ties.
2) Disconnect the solenoid cable on the control Optical sensor
PCB.
3) Disconnect the cable from the Optical Sensor.
4) Remove the three securing screws of the ring
stop module and remove it in an upward
direction.

5) Remove the securing screws of the solenoid Ring stop module
and remove the solenoid.
Reassembly:
Reassemble in reverse order observing the
following instructions. Cable tie Solenoid

Removal:
1) Remove the cable ties of the stepper motor
and optical sensor.
2) On the control PCB: Disconnect the cables of
the stepper motor and optical sensor. Securing

Do not try to disconnect the white
plastic from the stepper motor.
Exciter filter
3) Remove the securing screws of the exciter wheel stepper
filter assembly. motor
Reassembly:
When fixing the exciter filter assembly with the securing screws push it up as far as possible. There is
no special adjustment needed. Fix the cables of the stepper motor and light barrier with cable ties.
Removal:
1) Remove the exciter filter assembly. See Section 3.1.6.2, page 3 - 15.
2) Turn the filter wheel, until the filter that has to be changed is at the opposite side of the optical
sensor.
3) Always leave one plastic rivet in place. This one should be located at the opposite site of the filter
that has to be changed.
4) Carefully lift the metal plate by pressing the filter in question against the metal plate.
5) Push the filter to the free side.
Reassembly:
1) To avoid scratches, while sliding in the filter glass, paper can be put between the glass and the
plastic/metal surface.
2) Make sure the filters are located as shown in Fig. 3 - 16 or Fig. 3 -17, page 3 - 14.
3) Reassemble the exciter filter assembly. See Section 3.1.6.2, page 3 - 15.
Removal:
Note
During removal, take care not to hit the glass of the Focusing Aid Prism.
Reassembly:
Note
During reassembling, take care not to hit the glass of the Focusing Aid Prism. After fixing the
module, a gap between the field stop and the focus aid prism must be present.
1) Mount the new solenoid with its cable pointing to the patient’s side.
2) Attach the field stop to the shaft. Turn the shaft in such a way that the securing screw presses
against the flat part of the shaft.
3) The position of the field stop must be adjusted in such a way that contact-free movement
through the optical sensor is possible.
4) Insert and secure the field stop module.
5) Connect the cables to the control PCB and secure them.

Removal:
Note
During removal, take care not to hit the glass of Securing screws

Reassembly:
Note
During reassembling, take care not to hit the glass of the Focusing Aid Prism. After fixing the
module, a gap between the and the Focus Aid Prism and the Field Stop must be present.
4) Insert the prism assembly and slightly tighten the three securing screws.
5) Reconnect the cables of the solenoid and optical switch to the control PCB and secure them.
Follow-up Checks/Adjustments:
See Section 3.0 (Table 3-1), page 3 - 4.
Removal:
1) Remove the Focusing Aid Prism assembly. Optical switch
See Section 3.1.8.1, page 3 - 17.
2) Loosen the prism mount fixation screw.
3) Remove the prism mount from the shaft.
4) Remove the securing screws of the solenoid and remove Solenoid
securing screws
the solenoid.
Removal:
1) Remove the Focusing Aid Prism assembly.
See Section 3.1.8.1, page 3 - 17. Prism locking
2) Loosen the Prism locking screw. screw
Reassembly:
Prism
1) Mount the new Prism.
2) Tighten the prism locking screw just a little bit, so the
Prism is fixed slightly. It has to be adjusted anyway. Fig. 3 - 22: Focusing Aid Prism
3) Reassemble the Focusing Aid Prism assembly.
See Section 3.1.8.1, page 3 - 17.
Removal:
1) Disconnect the cable ties fixing the
stepper motor cable and Focusing Aid Focusing Aid illumination
illumination cable to the harness.
2) Disconnect the stepper motor and the
Focusing Aid illumination from the
Control PCB. Optical sensor
Reassembly:
1) Insert the Focusing Aid assembly.
2) Tighten the three securing screws that Fig. 3 - 23: Focusing Aid assembly

Removal:
Shaft securing
1) Disconnect the cable ties fixing the stepper motor nut
cable to the harness.
2) Disconnect the stepper motor from the Control Securing
PCB. screws
Reassembly:
1) Insert the stepper motor.
2) Tighten the two securing screws.
3) Tighten the securing nut.
Follow-up Checks/Adjustments:
See Section 3.0 (Table 3-1), page 3 - 4.
Removal:

1) Disconnect the cable from the Optical Sensor.
2) Remove the two securing screws.
3) Remove the optical sensor.
Reassembly:
Mount the optical sensor.

Note
In the Application software the Aperture is named “Boost 1”.
Removal:
1) Remove the cable ties of the solenoid and optical
sensor.
2) Disconnect the cables from the control PCB.
3) Remove the two Aperture assembly securing screws 1
(Fig 3 - 26, Pos. 1).
4) Remove the Aperture assembly.
5) Remove the two solenoid fixation screws. (Fig 3 - 27, Pos. 2).
6) Remove the solenoid. 2
Reassembly:
Mount in the reverse order.

Spare part: Barrier Filter assembly, Stepper motor, Optical sensor, Filter glasses
Reassembly:
When fixing the barrier filter assembly with the securing screws, Fig. 3 - 28: Securing screws
there is no special adjustment needed. Fix the cables of the stepper
motor and optical sensor with cable ties.
Note
Make sure the Barrier Filter Wheel is not touching the Aperture.
Removal:
1) Remove the barrier filter assembly.
See Section 3.1.11.1, page 3 - 22.
2) Turn the filter wheel, until the filter that has to
be changed is at the opposite side of the optical AF barrier Grey
sensor. filter filter
Removal:

1) Remove the cable ties and unplug the motor cable
from the control PCB.
2) Remove the securing nut.
3) Remove the securing screws. Spindle
4) Remove the motor.
Reassembly:
1) Insert the motor, loosely fix it with the securing Fig. 3 - 30: Motor securing
screws.
2) Fix the spindle with the securing nut.
3) Align the motor to the spindle and fix the two securing screws.

1) Bring in the new tube to the VISUCAM. Fig. 3 - 32: Light Sensor tube
2) Tighten the screws.
Caution!
Use the TestTool_S to swing out the splitter mirror several times. Listen carefully. If the
mirror is hitting the tube, correct the mirror position!

Note
The Light Sensor has a flattened surface. This has to be mounted parallel to
the mounting plate, like shown in Fig. 3 - 34 Fig. 3 - 33:
Light Sensor
Removal:
1) Disconnect the Light Sensor cable from the control PCB.
2) Loosen the Light Sensor fixation screw (Fig. 3 - 34, Pos.1).
3) Pull the old Light Sensor out of its mounting hole.
Reassembly: 1
1) Push the new Light Sensor into its mounting hole as deep as possible.
2) Align the flattened surface like shown in Fig. 3 - 34.
3) Carefully tighten the Light Sensor fixation screw until the sensor is fixed. Fig. 3 - 34:
4) Connect the new Light Sensor to the control PCB. View from underside
5) Check the Auto Flash function in the Application Software.
Spare part: Splitter Mirror assembly, Splitter Mirror, Solenoid, Optical sensor
Note
When removing or inserting the Splitter Mirror assembly, take care not to scratch the mirror.
Removal:
1) Remove the cable ties of the solenoid and the optical sensor.
2) Remove the three securing screws.
3) Remove the Splitter Mirror assembly.
Removal:
1) The Splitter Mirror assembly has been removed.
See Section 3.1.14.1, page 3 - 25.
2) Remove the securing screw fixing the mirror to the shaft of the
solenoid.
3) Remove the two screws fixing the mirror to its mounting
bracket. 1
Reassembly:

Align the height of the mirror according to the optical sensor. Fig. 3 - 36: Securing screws
Follow-up Checks/Adjustments:
See Section 3.0 (Table 3-1), page 3 - 4.
Removal:
1) The Splitter Mirror has been removed. See Section 3.1.14.2, page 3 - 25.
2) Remove the two securing screws of the solenoid.
3) Mount the new solenoid with its cable pointing to the left side.
Follow-up Checks/Adjustments:
See Section 3.0 (Table 3-1), page 3 - 4.
Modification Notes:
1) The following µC and FPGA versions can be read out using the AVT SmartView software.
See SB 515 V3 for more details.
Removal:
3) Disconnect the FireWire cable from the Stingray Sensor.
4) Disconnet the Stingray synchronization cable from the control
PCB.
5) Loosen the three fixation screws.
6) Remove the Stingray Sensor.
Fixation screws
Align the Stingray housing parallel to the housing of the internal fixation display.
Follow-up Checks/Adjustments:
See Section 3.0 (Table 3-1), page 3 - 4.
Removal:
1) Disconnect the Internal Fixation display cable from the Control
PCB.

2) Remove 2 bolts and one screw.
Bolts
Reassembly:
1) Loosely fix the new Internal Fixation display with the bolts and
the screw.
2) Firmly push the Internal Fixation display to the patient’s side.
3) Tighten the bolts and the screw.

Note
If the Control PCB is still accessible by the TestTool_S, make a copy of the EEPROM data
to the E:\Backup folder.
Note
The Control PCB always should be removed together with the mounting bracket.
In a second step the Control PCB can be removed from the bracket.
Removal:
1) Disconnect or unplug all cable connections. !
2) Unscrew the bracket (3 screws).
3) Unscrew the Control PCB from the bracket and remove it.
Reassembly:
The connector positions are shown in section 6.

Precondition:
The Instrument Head has been opened. See Section 3.1.1, page 3 - 6
Note
The knob of the IR brightness potentiometer can keep in place.
Procedure:
1) Remove the top cover of the locking knob.
2) Loosen the screw located under it.
3) Remove the locking knob.
Removal:
1) Remove the AS/PS sensor. Pressure

adjustment, slightly press the
camera head downward.

a way that the toothed belt can be

Reassembly:
Reassemble in reverse order observing the following instructions.
1) Installing the height adjustment nut, apply slight pressure in the direction of the height
adjustment spindle. It should be free of play.
2) To reinstall the joystick, place a wooden wedge under the instrument base.
Note
Mount the joystick in such a way that the toothed belt is only slightly tensioned. If the
tention is to high, the belt might jump off.
Spare part: X-Y guideway complete, Gear Rack, Pair of Gears with rollers
Procedure:
1) Remove the camera head (see “Changing the
Z-guide way or spring”).
2) Remove the roller cage of the Z-guide way.
3) Remove 4 securing screws and slide the
instrument base towards the head rest.
4) Turn the instrument base and place it on a
suitable surface.
5) Loosen the screws of one gear rack and
remove the gear rack.
6) Remove the X-Y guide way at the side. Securing screws

When installing the X-Y guideway, make
sure to mount it precisely parallel in the
Z guideway roller

1) Separate the computer base from the camera head Height adjustment nut
by disconnecting all connecting cables of the head
and removing cable ties and cable clips. Spring
2) Remove the cable mounting plate on the underside
of the computer base cover and disconnect the Z guideway
ground connection of the camera head. For this
purpose, tilt the camera head in the head rest
direction and place the optics on a suitable support.
3) Remove the cable holder and slide all cables through
the cable opening.
4) Unplug the cable connection from the control panel Sleeve Cable holder
to the camera head on the connector panel and
remove the cable clips.
5) Adjust the camera head to half the height and
remove the height adjustment nut, while slightly pressing the camera head downward to relieve
the spring pressure.
6) Lift off the camera head, taking care of the connected cables, and place the camera head aside
on a suitable surface.
7) Exchange the Z-guideway or spring.
8) Re-attach the camera head and press it downward over the roller cage, against the spring
pressure, as far as it will go.
Note
For changing the spring or Z-guideway, the sleeve need not be loosened.
If the sleeve needs to be changed, push the sleeve into the bore of the camera head as far as
it will go, and secure it with the locking screws.
When securing the cables and cable holders, make sure that all shielding connections are
carefully and reliably established.
Procedure:
1) Move the side of the instrument to the table edge
so that the securing screws of the base plate are
easily accessible.
2) Remove all base plate securing screws.

6) Check that all cables guided from the computer to the instrument head are free movable or
disconnected, so that the instrument head can be put to the left side of the computer base. This

1) With the camera head still on the left side of the computer base: Fit the cover, close the clips and
the securing screw.
3) Place the computer base cover incl. the camera head on its guidance on the Head Rest side.

3.3.8 Motherboard

Software options:
Licenses for optional software options (e.g. Stereo, ICGA, etc.) are linked to the motherboard
UID.
If optional software is used by the customer, a new license is needed after replacing the
motherboard.
The software options in use can be checked in: “User –specific settings”; “Options”;
“Activated software options”. See Section 4.1.6.3.

1) Remove the cover of the Power Supply.
2) Open all cable ties and disconnect the fan on the GIF

3) Pull the fan from the fan collar.
4) To exchange the fan collar: Unhook the fan collar from
the base plate.
Reassembly:
1) When inserting the fan in the collar, use a suitable tool
(e.g. screw driver) to push the rubber edge to the side. Fan collar
2) Install the fan with the blowing direction pointing
outward.
Removal:
1) Pull the VISUCAM over the edge of a table in such a way, that the rubber feet on the patient’s
side are near the border, but still on the table.
2) Locate the head rest fixation nuts on the underside of the computer
base.
Note
The nuts might be very tight. Use the special tool shown in
section 5 to loosen it.
Note
For the next step it might be helpful to put the VISUCAM on the floor.
5) To loosen the head rest, firmly hit the top of the metal bar.
6) Check if the head rest is loosened.
7) Separate the cable of the internal fixation from the computer base. See Section 3.3.3, page 3-38.
8) Remove the head rest.
Reassembly:
1) Slightly mount the head rest fixation nuts.
2) When putting the head rest back into the fixtures, take care that the tubes are completely in.
They have to touch the head rest fixation nuts.
3) Tighten the nuts firmly.
Removal:
1) Remove the two fixation screws.
2) Remove the forehead strap.
Reassembly:
Fasten the two screws with great care. Do not break the plastic of
the strap.
Note
In the Asian market, an alternative forehead strap can be used. This can improve the AS/PS
detection on heads with less distinct eye sockets. Check the Spare Parts catalogue for details.

4.1.3 TestTool_S
Note
The activation of the TestTool_S is described in section 4.1.1, page 4 - 4.
Not all tests offered in the TestTool_S are service relevant. Use only those tests you are asked
to use by the service documentation or the service support.
4.1.4 Logserver
The Logserver may contain valuable information regarding permanent or intermittent failure. The
entries are classified as follows:
i = Information
D = Debug
E = Error
STOP = Fatal Error
Note
Do not change the log level! A more detailed level than provided by default may result in
an inoperative VISUCAM.
Procedure:
1) Press the key combination ���+�. (Concrete Key combination is provided during technical
training)
2) The Logserver displays the entries since last power on.

After changing anything in the System settings, a system backup should be performed.

4.1.6 Settings
This section contains additional information on user-specific settings that can also be changed by the
user of the instrument.
Procedure:
1) Press the program button “User-specified settings”.
2) The “Settings” window opens.

The Settings window is opened. See section 4.1.6.1, page 4 - 21.
Procedure:
1) In the “File export” tab, “JPEG export quality” choose
the desired quality level.
2) In the “Default file format” section, click on “DICOM”.
Note
Choosing the “Simultaneous image file export
during capturing” can slow down the
operation of the VISUCAM. This will happen
especially when executing Fluo- and ICG
investigation.
Note
After purchasing a software option, an Activation ID is provided. The Activation ID and a
file, generated on the VISUCAM, are needed to request a license.
Zeiss Automap and Network Broker are free of charge.
Receiving a license file, put a copy in a save place, e.g. the E:\Backup folder.
Precondition:
The Settings window is opened. See section 4.1.6.1, page 4 - 21.
Procedure:
1) In the “Options” tab, click on “Generate key file”. A
file “VISUCAMxxx_xxxxx.bin” is generated.
2) Send this file and the Activation ID to
czm.license@meditec.zeiss.com. A
“VISUCAMxxx_xxxxx.lic” file will be send back.
3) After receiving the .lic file, open the “Options” tab
again and click on “Load license file”.
4) To become effective, the VISUCAM has to be
restarted.

This area may contain a password protected copy of
the databases. The password is only known to the
software development department. If the database
on the VISUCAM is larger than 10 MB, the database
will not be put in the ServicePackage.svp file.

11) Turn the focusing knob until the ring stop is as sharp as possible.

If you are asked to send a dark field picture to the service support, only use the DICOM
(.dcm) format. This is the preferred file format also for other sample pictures.
Procedure:
1) Attach the eyepiece with its holder to the chin rest.
2) Turn the barrier filter wheel by hand, until its free
opening is located between the pinhole mirror and
the main objective.
3) Ensure the Aperture is swivelled in.

Adjusting the ARP should be necessary in very rare cases only. Most problems of bright
artifacts are caused by dirt, not by an ARP mal-adjustment.
Ensure the Ophthalmo lens is perfectly clean before starting this adjustment. Use the
dark field procedure 4.1.12, page 4 - 33. to check the lens for cleanness!

The 3 adjustment screws, are arranged by 120° each. Loosen and tighten the screws in such
a way that they do not apply pressure on the ARP holder.
Note
The diameter of the ARP is 0.3mm only! Turn the side adjustment screws very carefully,
otherwise you might lose the ARP position completely. Finding it again and aligning it might
take long time.
Procedure:
1) Carefully loosen the screw(s) on the side the ARP should be shifted to.
2) Carefully tighten the screw on the opposite side.

The VISUCAM can be kept switched off.
The Aperture is swivelled in.

1) Attach the eyepiece with its holder to the chin rest.
2) Turn the barrier filter wheel by hand, until its free
opening is located between the pinhole mirror and the
main objective.
3) Place a small piece of white paper between the Barrier Eyepiece White paper
Filter wheel and the Main objective.

2) Use the focusing axis to focus on the ring stop reflection as sharp as possible.
3) Check for the overlay of the Stingray F504C being centered to the ring stop refection.

Performing this procedure just as a check only, not
during an adjustment, a slight tolerance is allowed. If the
complete ring stop is visible inside the 2nd line of the
overlay, it is not necessary to adjust the Stingray F504C
position. If you are performing the adjustment anyway,
the target is as follows.

The assistance of a second person is helpful for adjusting the sharpness of the fixation
cross.
Preconditions:
The Application Software is operative.
The capture mode is active.
The internal fixation is switched on.
Procedure:
1) Focus on the assistant’s eye fundus.
2) Ask the assistance if the fixation cross is clear or blurred.
3) If the sharpness has to be adjusted, loosen the two fixation screws
of the Internal Fixation Display objective.
4) Carefully move the objective up- or down.
5) Ask the assistance for the sharpest position.
6) In this position fix the fixation screws.

create the folder C:\VISUCAM\Firmware\VISUCAM_... (… stands for the firmware
version) and place a copy of the #firmware_nm.hex there.

If the firmware can not be programmed to the EEPROM, open the Task manager and
check if the main.exe is closed.

4.4.1 BIOS
4.4.1.1 Boot Order Change for Next Boot Only
Note
On VISUCAM 200/500 the optimized BIOS defaults are enabled. This allows changing the
boot order for the next boot only. Doing so avoids trouble caused by accidentally permanent
BIOS changes.
Procedure:
Note
First boot after battery replacement can end with a non operating monitor. If the monitor
remains black more than 60 seconds, press Ctrl & Alt & Del to reboot the system.
Procedure:
1) Switch off the VISUCAM 200/500.
2) Switch on the VISUCAM 200/500.
3) When a grey bar appears on the bottom of the monitor, press the Del key.
4) The BIOS is displayed.
Note
First boot after battery replacement, or booting without battery, can lead into a non booting
motherboard. Ensure the battery is connected and in a good condition before proceeding
with this instruction.
Procedure:
1) Switch off the VISUCAM 200/500.
2) Switch on the VISUCAM 200/500.
3) Wait some seconds to allow the motherboard to
start. This can be proved by a clicking sound of the
DVD burner, or by temporary connecting the CPU
fan to the connector on the Motherboard.
If the motherboard does not start, briefly shorten
pin 6 and 8 on the “FP” connector, while power is

on.
Reconnect the CPU fan to the GIF if you temporary
connected it to the Motherboard.
Procedure:
1) Switch off the VISUCAM 200/500.
2) Switch on the VISUCAM 200/500.
3) When a grey bar appears on the bottom of the monitor, press the F2 key.
4) A password is requested.
5) Enter ����� (Concrete password is provided during technical training)
6) The BIOS is displayed.
11) Press F10 to save and exit. Confirm changes and exit the BIOS.
4.4.2 Re-imaging
4.4.2.1 Re-imaging Options
The Base Image DVD menu provides the following options:
1) “Recover Windows XP on system drive (C:) from DVD”
Note
This option will delete all data on the C:\ partition.
Customized data, such as printer drivers, regional settings, computer name, network
settings, licenses and all installed software options, incl. the Application Software, will be
lost after the re-imaging.
Please be prepared for redoing all customized data (C:\ partition) after the re-imaging
process. If the HDD is accessible before re-imaging, make a note about the above
settings and check for the backup files in the E:\Backup folder.
Patient data and the Fundus pictures are NOT deleted while using this option.
2) “Recover Windows XP including all drives (C:, D:, E:) from DVD”
Note
This option will delete all data on the C:\, D:\ and E:\ partition,
see 4.4.2.1 1) “Recover Windows XP on system drive (C:) from DVD”.
Furthermore all patient data and Fundus pictures will be lost.
Patient data and Fundus pictures can only be restored if the customer can provide a data
backup in DICOM format.
Note
Before performing the HDD re-imaging, use the following checklist to ensure the completion
after the re-imaging.
Procedure:
1) Insert the Base Image DVD.
2) Enter the BIOS to enable a boot from CD-
ROM, preferably use procedure 4.4.1.1,
“Boot order change for next boot
only” page 4 – 60 to do so.
3) Reboot the system.
4) The recovery options are displayed. Choose
the recover option you want to use (1, 2 or
3). While using an empty HDD, “Option
2” must be chosen.

Accessible data from a previously installed HDD, e.g. by using an USB-IDE connection,
can make it easier to restore the system. Additionally customer data might be restorable.
Check a previously installed HDD for a system backup on the E:\ partition. If available,
copy it to the E:\ partition of the new HDD and use 4.4.2.1, page 4 - 66 Option 3)
“Recover system backup from local drive E:” instead of proceeding with this instruction.
Note
If you do not want to wait for the appearance of the key symbol in the task bar, used in
the next step, do the following:
- In the Windows explorer select C:\WINDOWS\system32
- Click on cmd.exe.
- In the command window enter c:\windows\system32\oobe\msoobe.exe /a
Activation can now be performed immediately as described in step 10 and following.

The Windows Activation key is also written inside the computer base on top of the
connector panel. You can take it from there or place the phone call.

A system backup should be performed each time a serious change to the C:\ partition
has been made. Such changes are: Printer installation, software update, new network
integration and so on.
The backup image consists of two files: IMAGE_C.GHO (about 2GB size) and
IMAGE_C.001. Before creating a new backup, an existing image has to be removed from
the E:\ partition. It is of advantage to shift this image to a save place
(e.g. the D:\ partition), just in case the old configuration should be needed again.
The system backup contains all data from the C:\ partition. It does not contain the
patient data and the Fundus pictures.
Procedure:
1) Insert the Base Image DVD.
2) Enter the BIOS to enable a boot from CD-
ROM, preferably use procedure 4.4.1.1
“Boot order change for next boot
only”, page 4 - 60 to do so.
3) Reboot the system.
4) The recovery options are displayed.
Choose option 4.

Note
Mal-adjustment of the anti-reflection point usually does not occur during standard
operation. External influences such as improper transport or shock can cause
maladjustment.
Adjusting the ARP is explained in section 4.2.5 “ARP (Anti Reflection Point).
Procedure:
1) Enter the Service Mode. See – 4.1.1.
2) Select the “EEPROM” tab.
3) Click on “Read parameters from EEPROM”.
The stored values from EEPROM are displayed.
4) Search for the EEPROM parameter: "Threshold for flash deactivation in auto exposure mode “
5) Change this value, the default is 2000.
6) Click on “Write Parameters to EEPROM”.
The new value will be stored in the EEPROM.

8) Restart the VISUCAM.

Application errors:
Two different ways allow the access to the Application errors:
Logserver (see section 4.1.4).
Teleservice offline tool (see section 4.1.8).
The BIOS battery has more influence than date and time settings only. A defective or empty
battery can lead into non- or wrong booting. If the error can not be surely identified as a
Motherboard problem, always exchange the battery first.
