DIMAXIS INSTALLATION

1: Launch the setup.exe from the install media

- This can generally be found within the Dimaxis folder


- Dimaxis will ONLY INSTALL ON A 32-BIT OPERATING SYSTEM
- If receiving an error that indicates no operating system found (intel) or something similar,
run the installer in compatibility mode for Windows XP service pack 1

2: Click Next to continue past the Overview and Copyright Agreement screen as seen below
2: Select the installation type from the window below and then click Next

- Always leave Planmeca Dimaxis checked


- Check Solid Server only if the computer will be acting as the Dimaxis Database
o This means any subsequent clients will need to connect through this computer to
access the Dimaxis database
o This computer can also be a viewing and/or capture computer, but it does not have
to be
o This will also be the option used if this is a stand-alone environment
- Check Solid Client only if the computer will be acting as a viewing and/or capture station
o This means it will not house any of the Dimaxis database information
o The computer will not be able to run Dimaxis independently without a database
computer to connect to
3: Click Next to continue past the Overview and Copyright Agreement screen as seen below

- At this point, Solid will be installed prior to Dimaxis completing its installation
4: Click Next on the installation review screen as seen below

- If updating from an older version of Solid, review the information within this page
5: Select the installation destination and click Next

- Generally it is best to leave this as the default, which is C:\solid

6: Solid will install at this point and then return to the Dimaxis installation

- If errors occur during the Solid installation, stop the installation and try again
- It may be necessary to install as administrator
o If errors persists on installation of Solid, verify the computer meets the system
requirements of Dimaxis
 If the errors persists, escalate to tier 2 for investigation

7: Select the language for Dimaxis and click Next

- English is selected by default, as a result no further check boxes need to be checked


8: Select the installation destination and click Next

- Generally it is best to leave this as the default, which is C:\Program Files\Planmeca\Dimaxis


9: Click Next to continue past the Dimaxis Installation Information screen

10: Choose installation components and click Next to continue


- The Planmeca’s device drivers check box refers to Didapi
o This should be installed if capturing on this workstation
- The IRQ Enabled check box refers to the PCI interface for Proline and Promax devices
o This should be installed if not using an Ethernet interface with the x-ray device
- The remaining options can remain unchecked

11: Complete the installation

- If prompted to reboot, you may perform this task at anytime


o Do not reboot the computer without permission from the end user, especially if the
computer is a service computer

12: Configure the Data Sources (ODBC) in Administrative Tools

- Update the ODBC Data Source name and Network name to reflect the correct information
for the Dimaxis server computer
o Data Sources (ODBC) can be found within the Administrative tools section of Control
Panel

 In this example, the computer being used is a standalone workstation,


change the IP address to reflect the IP address of the Dimaxis server, the
port will always be 1313
13: Configure the Dimaxis.ini to reflect the correct IP address of the server

- The information next to the DSN= should match the information provided in Data Sources
(ODBC)
o If the PWD= field is empty, make sure to enter the word “dixi”, otherwise Dimaixs
will prompt for a password

14: Stop and start the Dimaxis service

- Stop the Solid service


o The Solid service can be running in two different forms, either as an application or
as a service
 If running Solid as an application, close the application SOLFE either by
ending the task in task manager or right-clicking it on the task bar and
closing it
 If running Solid as a service, stop the service via the Services application
• Services can be found in Administrative Tools in control panel
- Start the Solid service
o The Solid service can be running in two different forms, either as an application or
as a service
 If running Solid as an application, run the SOLFE application
• By default, this can be found in c:\solid
 I running Solid as a service, start the service via the Services application
• Services can be found in Administrative tools in control panel

15: Install the Dimaxis license

- Run the Dimaxis Pro License Code Installer application


o This can be found in the Start menu under the Dimaxis directory, it is listed as Install
Dimaxis License
- Browse to the location of the Dimaxispro.dlc file
o This will be on a disk provided to the office, otherwise, it can be found under the
License folder in volume one
 No new licenses can be generated for Dimaxis
