BS PSY 3-3

Client/Patient: Erah, 11 years old

Behavioral Observation

The attire of the interviewee, Erah, was wearing a T-shirt and Leggings when she

arrived. Even before I interviewed her, I already know that she is the shy type of person.

She’s my neighbor and I see her every day. Erah was a bit nervous before doing the

interview because she might answer the wrong answers. (i.e., Stutter while answering or

answering with undesired words). I then asked her how she was, how her well-being was,

how does she view the situation we were in, she then answered and explained how her

family has her back, especially in her needs. Eventually, I lead her into a positive outlook

wherein I said, “that’s good”, but I cannot help but notice she is looking at my reaction

while listening to her.

Erah was very anxious on how I produced my facial expressions. She feels that she will

say the wrong answers to me. I asked her if I got to help her, she answered rapidly yes

since she has no one to talk to. I asked how confident she is whenever she does anything

like for example during our interview, I asked her if she felt confident, she responded yes

but whenever she answers wrongfully, she gets disappointed and shy again. She has this

eagerness to learn a lot of things, but once she cannot understand, she won’t force it

anymore.
Erah appears to be making her best effort in answering. When she was answering my

questions, she was not looking at me straight, I could also see her fiddling with her

fingers nervously. She seems to want to answer more than the questions she is producing,

but due to her shy type, she is not that outspoken to speak a lot. Erah was also quiet while

she was answering, and I knew why she answered in a slow manner was due to her

making sure that her answers were accurate.

Erah had difficulty in verbal communications as she was more of a non-verbal

communicator, she only nods most of the time. She had a hard time in the verbal exam,

but she did well in the non-verbal exam. Erah is more of an introvert than an extrovert,

she enjoys her own company than with a lot of people. She was focused on everything

that she did, even though there was evident struggle with herself, she did not show signs

of boredom.
