CASE 1: SALLY
Sally is an eight year old girl who living with her parents. As you observe her in play
setting with other peers, you can notice that she is having difficulty playing ball. She
throws tantrum in the middle of the game and the other kids make fun of her she was
unable to kick the ball and struggled with her balance. When she is removed from the
situation and given some table activities she is able to engage with other children. When
you engage Sally in a story, she has a difficult time picking out the emotion depicted in
the story. She has a problem in her receptive and expressive.
Guide Questions:
1. What developmental domain is Sally encountered a problem? Why? (10pts)

Answer: Sally has problem in psychomotor and affective domain where she can’t
perform basic movements that’s made her inattentive and having difficulty
playing the ball. For she had limited actions to execute towards play. Another
thing, her emotions resisted to show in the class.

2. If you are the teacher of Sally, what are you going to do to develop the
developmental domain where she has a problem? (10pts)

Answer: To be able to develop Sally in her problem, as a teacher I would involve

her in physical activity only me and her to avoid hearsays from other children.
Make a daily plan or assessment on her to perform with teacher guidance. Since
she throws tantrum, make her do task just to make sure he will not do anything
bad expression on her classmates. These discipline would realize that he’s
actions are wrong. The teacher will initiate to do a role play and Sally’s role
dominate an emotional approach on the given role. So that the child can feel and
get emotions in the story. Another on the part of the teacher, she must throw
emotions through facial expression, voice projection and body gesture in telling

Answer: Sally has a problem in psychomotor and affective domain it might

because at her age she’s unable to develop body movements and receptive and
expressive the way she express her emotions towards in class.
CASE 2: ALPHONSE
Alphonse is often a behavioral problem in Ms. Stewart’s tenth-grade class.
Throughout the school year, she has tried to ignore his behavior in an effort to not
reinforce it and avoid giving him, an audience for his acting out. Alphonse is oppositional
and moody, and Ms. Stewart doesn’t look forward to seeing him each day. Most of the
comments she has given Alphonse have not been positive. She has called his mother
several times, but has unable to reach her.
Ms. Stewart felt she has failed Alphonse because neither his academics nor his
behavior had improved during the year-in fact, they had gotten worse. After this incident,
she realized it hadn’t been wise to enter Alphonse’s personal space when he wasn’t
expecting it. Ms. Stewart asked Alphonse what was going on. It wasn’t long before the
floodgates opened. Alphonse was the oldest of five siblings. His single mother worked at
night and it was Alphonse’s responsibility to feed, bathe, and take care of his other four
siblings. He often did not get much sleep.
As a result of his at home responsibilities, Alphonse was not able to play basketball
for the school’s team this year- a fact that he resented strongly. He was angry that he
was not able to enjoy hiss teenage life like his friends could, and that anger manifested
itself in the class.
Guide Questions:
1. What makes Alphonse becomes oppositional and moody? Why? (10pts)

Answer: From my own perception, aside from her mother Alphonse has became
caretaker of his siblings. As a matter of fact he had already a responsibilities
which he’s not able to enjoy his teenage life like his other friends. He spends
more time doing responsibility than having friends ands spends time with them.
In his case, he’s unable to show interest from different aspects in life. He strongly
resented that he hadn’t been enjoying life away from home. That’s why he
become oppositional and moody. He give space himself and distance with the
other people.

2. If you are the teacher, how are you going to manage the behavior of Alphonse?
(10pts)
Answer: To Alphonso’s case, the possibility of changes from his behavior showed
up can be manipulate. From Alphonse’s history in fact his the eldest whom he
had responsible for taking care of his younger siblings, as a teacher to manage
his behavior is giving him more attention like asking him with questions about
family values and appreciation in the end. By throwing him good praises he able
to feel like he has a person backed on whenever he gets tired of responsibilities.

3. How important socio-emotional domain to an individual?

Answer: Socio-emotional is a serious matter, which means for me establishing a

sense of attachment or relation person-to-person. A feeling of being awake and
aware to people's emotion, and consciously making a perception to sensitivity of
individual. This domain recognizes sentiment not shared by oneself but one
another like in family, relatives, and friends.

Just like what happened to Alphonse, negligence of love, and concerns wasn’t
carried out with his mother. There’s no affection between a mother and son that
somehow it took for Alphonse to show interest to his classmate and just so
happen he lived in the world with his unseen emotions.

Having this domain is significant to an individual to feel happy, guilt, resentment

and even anxious. Why? Because socio-emotional domain bring a good
characteristic and good qualities in the self and to the society. These are needs
of our growth.
