ACTIVITY 2:

1. Cite the contributions of the ancient Egyptians and Mesopotamians to


the development in science and technology.

– The instruments used to create houses, temples, tombs, sculptures of their


gods, huge statues, and the rock-cut tomb are examples of ancient
Egyptian contributions to the development of science and technology.
They also learned how to employ wind power through sailing ships.
Mesopotamian contributions to mathematics, astronomy, and medicine,
among others. They employed a sexagesimal numeral system in
mathematics to define the hour as 60 minutes, which is based on 60
seconds. They examined celestial phenomena via observations in
astronomy. In medicine, they help to grasp concepts such as diagnosis,
prognosis, physical examination, and prescription.

2. Identify the advancements in science and technology ushered by the


ancient Greeks and romans.

– The ancient Greeks and Romans ushered in technological and scientific


advancements such as the alarm clock (not the same alarm clock we have
today, but the same to tell the time), the water mill (a necessary form of
food processing during the ancient Greeks), Roman architecture (the
Roman empire's most visible contribution), and many others. (Ancient

3. Explain the impact of the dark ages on the advancements made in


science and technology.

– The impact of the dark ages on scientific and technical developments was
that the establishment of more stable monarchies resulted in technological
and agricultural advancements, as well as the advancement of medicine
with Persian doctors and alchemists.
