Image 1: Image 2:

A. Which one do you consider as an art? Why?

As I considered myself as not an artist, I choose image 2 to be called as an

art. Since Vincent Van Gogh is the artist of the work, I should say that it all
meets the requirements of the work to be called as a great art. He was known
to be the prominent artist in his time aside from his work showed in image 2
that has a title of “The Starry Night”, he also made “Wheatfield with Crows”,
“The Bedroom”, and many more which later became popular and famous.
Many works of him are being modeled and copy by the artist of the 21st
century. The image 2 has a great combined color that makes it to be good in
sight, it has very detailed drawing in which the audience should understand
every part of it, the idea of the artist is one of the factor that made the work to
be aesthetic. Also, the work has a lot of meaning that may formulate from the
audiences’ minds.

B. Which one do you not consider as an art? Why?

Image 1 is what I considered as not an art. It has no meaning at all, its just an
image of shovel which is use for digging. The color was dull and it has a bad
sight for audiences. According to Michelle Gaugy, an art gallery owner, author,
art consultant, most craft is not art, The shovel above is a craft that has not
been required any artistic and creativity from the maker for it was made
through the materials that have collected to put together. Furthermore, the
image 2 is just a representation of a thing that can be used by people and it
has nothing to do with art. It’s a craft, not an art.
