Picture 1: I chose this picture because I want my classroom to be a family. We will all
support one another and be respectful when sharing our work out loud.
Picture 2: I chose this picture because I want to practice inventive spelling in my
classroom. I believe that sounding words out is better than spelling the words correctly.
Picture 3: I chose this bundle of books because I know that there are a lot of great picture
books out there with great messages for everyone. I also think picture books hold a lot of
great information for mentor texts.
Picture 4: I want to teach poetry in my classroom to help students find a fun way to write.
This will be beneficial for my students and I have a lot of fun activities that I learned from
The Write Thing.
Picture 5: This picture represents creative writing. I want my students to feel free and
comfortable with writing. I am going to have prompts that are relatable for them and also
have some that might get them out of their comfort zone. I will read some of their writing,
but I will also have personal prompts that will allow them to journal and write freely with
no fear of judgement.
