Jeremiah 29:11

Jeremiah 29:11

Sapagka't [11]For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and
not of evil, to give you an expected end.

These words are a comforting message to the Israelites who would be taken captive by
Babylon. Their nation would have a future, which is what occurred after being released by Cyrus
the Great. For or us who live today, we are reminded that even if we are to err and need
correction, it is Jehovah God’s desire that when we respond to that correction, that we see
what a grand future he holds out to those who serve him out of love. The repentant Israelites
returned to their homeland, and rebuilt the Temple and the city of Jerusalem. For the next 6
centuries, the Jews served at the Temple, until the arrival of the Messiah or Christ. Those Jews
who found the Christ, became the founding members of those who would have the greatest
future, of being kings with Christ in the Kingdom of God.

To me, this means that many times in life, I will be faced with adversity. This will not harm
me but God will use the adversity to keep me close to Him, the Source of true prosperity.
