II. COURSE DESCRIPTION

This subject is aimed to give students general knowledge and understanding of the use of English in health
field, related with the key vocabularies and commonly used phrases in health specially to deal with written text
also reading and listening activity in the subjects. The contents are: the development of listening comprehension
and oral expression, as well as written comprehension and production at levels of language use in simple,
everyday situations and in relation to their field of expertise. Expressed with certain fluency, linguistic correction
and property, as well as the use of learning strategies, contextualized texts and tasks. Allowing the student to
understand and perform simulations of significant medical situations.

III. SPECIFIC COMPETENCY OF THE COURSE

Identify, Analyze and understand with scientific sensitivity.

IV. EVALUATION

4.1. All grades are in the vigesimal system (from 0 to 20); the minimum grade is thirteen (13) and the fraction 0.5 or more in any grade oraverage is
always in favor of the student, rounding up to the next higher whole number.

4.2. MAKE-UP EXAM

Only students who have NOT taken the MID-TERM and FINAL EXAM will be entitled to take the make-up exam. A student who DOES NOT ATTEND ANY OF THE
TWO EXAMS, may NOT take the make-up exam and will be placed NSP on the official record.

4.3. The final score of each UNIT is based on the following parameters:

 A: Attitude (Attendance to classes, tardiness, use of the uniform, respect to the institutional rules, participation in the classroom, personal presentation,
attendance to classes in the videoconferences, etc)
 ED: Daily evaluation (oral or written)
 EP: Partial and Final Evaluation
 AP: Aptitude (student’s performance during the practice, practical exam)
