I’m going to discuss three activities to use with students in the classroom, but the
most important one is introducing the mood meter. Ask if anyone has ever seen it
before
Explain why it is important to use the mood meter, last year I made individual cards
for students they hooked onto their desk, you can also do an art project with students
For example, start each day by doing a quick
1-minute check-in with students as they enter your classroom, in
the middle of class when you sense they are getting a little bit antsy,
and/or at the end as you wrap up before they move on to their next
activity.
Go around and ask people to share, give them about 2-3 mins to discuss with their
table
CHOC has video or youtube!
Turn off the lights and ask everyone to put their heads down
Ask some people to share. If their mood changed from what they previously said
Ask if anyone has ever heard of TIPP
Review the steps of TIPP
Go over important notes & ask if anyone has questions
