Dear Parents

DAMUS: CHARITY MONTH: AUGUST 2019

Our annual charity drive is a tradition cherished and supported by our parents, learners and educators. Over the
past 42 years Eversdal Primary School has been in the position to bring relief to many - both in and outside our
community. Remember that our school community is the main beneficiary.

A percentage, however, is also allocated to organisations which are largely child-orientated. During 2018 the
following institutions benefited from our “Damus” drive.

• Durbanville Children’s Home.

• Operation Smile
• Red Cross Children’s Hospital
• Tygerbear Foundation
• Tygerberg Hospital Trust Fund

It is a tradition that in the month of August every Ever parent, learner and educator live our motto, Damus, to its
fullest, in a tangible way. Through His grace our Damus Carnival has grown from strength to strength every
year. May each one of us once again open our hands and hearts in the year 2019 TO GIVE (DAMUS) to those
who have less - whether in health, senses, food, clothes or anything else. In spite of very tight economic times
so many of us are blessed with means to give! This year it will be quite a challenge to host the Damus in a manner
you have grown accustom to. The building project has made the outlay a bit different but we are positive that all
our Evers will still come and enjoy themselves.

• Damus Competition

- Every Ever receives one (1) competition form. This form must be back by Monday 26 August.
- If every Ever completes a form, it will be a giant step forward.
- It is up to every Ever to complete as many forms as possible in aid of the Damus Fund.
(There are prizes for the best sellers)
• Damus Tickets (for games and purchases on 29 August 2019 - R2 each) will be sold from Wednesday
24 July 2019.
• Damus evening: * Thursday 29 August 17:00 - 20:30. The day of action! This is when our
parents and learners (in class/grade groups) are where the action is.

We know that every parent will assist their child(ren) and his/her educator with help, advice or donations of
products, etc.

Thanking you in anticipation for your support and co-operation. Remember: Damus is our school's most
cherished tradition.

DAMUS: LIEFDADIGHEIDSMAAND: AUGUSTUS 2019

Ons jaarlikse liefdadigheidspoging is een van ons skoolgemeenskap se tradisies wat ouers, leerders en
opvoeders jaar na jaar pragtig ondersteun en “jaloers” op is. Oor die afgelope 42 jaar het die Laerskool Eversdal
op vele plekke groot nood verlig – binne en buite ons gemeenskap. Die grootste voordeel van die fondse word
binne ons skoolgemeenskap aangewend.

Bydraes gaan ook aan instansies in die Wes-Kaap wat oorwegend “kindgerig” is. Gedurende 2018 het die
volgende instansies gebaat by Eversdal se Damus-poging.

• Durbanville Kinderhuis
• Operation Smile
• Rooikruis Kinderhospitaal
• Tygerbear Foundation
• Tygerberg Hospitaal Trustfonds

Tradisioneel is Augustusmaand die tyd wanneer elke Ever-ouer, -leerder en -opvoeder ons skool se leuse,
Damus, ten volle uitleef op ‘n tasbare wyse. Deur Sy Genade gaan ons Damusgeleentheid elke jaar van krag
tot krag. Mag elkeen van ons weer in 2018 ons hande en harte oopmaak OM TE GEE (Damus) aan dié wat
baie minder het – of dit nou gesondheid, sintuie, kos, klere of wat ookal is. Ten spyte van uitsonderlike moeilike
ekonomiese tye het baie van ons nog soveel om te gee! Hierdie jaar gaan Damus ‘n groot uitdaging wees,
aangesien die bouprojek die uitleg van ons aand gaan beïnvloed, maar ons is positief dat al ons Evers steeds
hulself sal kom geniet op die aand.

• Damuskompetisie

- Elke Ever ontvang een (1) kompetisievorm. Hieride vorm moet terug wees teen Maandag 26 Augustus.
- As elke Ever 'n vorm voltooi, is dit al 'n reuse tree vorentoe.
- Dit staan elke Ever vry om soveel moontlik vorms te voltooi ten bate van die Damusfonds.
(Daar is pryse vir die beste verkopers)
• Damuskaartjies (vir speletjies en aankope op 29 Augustus – R2 elk) se verkope begin op Woensdag
24 Julie 2018.
• Damusaand: * Donderdag 29 Augustus 17:00 – 20:30.
Dié dag van aksie!! Dit is wanneer die ouers en leerders (in klas-/graadverband) in die pylvak is.

Ons weet dat elke ouer nou sal saamwerk met hulle kind(ers) en die opvoeder(s) m.b.t. skenkings van
produkte, hulp, raad, ens.

By voorbaat baie dankie vir u ondersteuning en samewerking om ook in 2019 die Evers se grootste en mees
trotse tradisie na groter hoogtes te voer.
