Experimental Project #2
Trying out a new coping resource
Jordana Wagner

I chose to do this specific experiential project because I have been very stressed out
recently. I decided to try and meditate every morning for fifteen minutes and meditate for fifteen
minutes before I went to bed. I started doing the meditations on November 29, 2022 and on
November 30, 2022. I would say that meditating was quite difficult as I’ve had a lot on my mind,
I kept thinking about all the assignments I have due. The first time doing it was sort of weird. I
was alone in my room (my roommate slept out the previous night), and it was an hour or so
before my first class (which was ironically your class). I looked up on youtube a morning
meditation, and it only took a few minutes. When I was coming out of it, I felt really relaxed. I
sort of laid in my bed for a while because I realized I was kind of sleepy. It was a weird feeling, I
felt energized but that I wanted to lounge around. Either way, when I went into class, I felt a lot
more relaxed and energized throughout my day. I normally feel burnt out at around 3:00 on my
Tuesdays and Thursdays, but maybe the meditation helped ground me. I went to sleep kind of
late that night. I put on a relaxing, night time meditation. I normally have trouble falling asleep,
but I think I fell asleep to this meditation halfway through because I do not remember the
meditation itself ending;I had a wonderful night's sleep though, nonetheless. The next day,
meditating in the morning made me more energized then it made me want to lounge. I actually
got to my class early this morning. I definitely think that the morning meditations are a great start
to my day. For example, in the mornings I tend to have a lot of tension and anxiety. When I do
the meditations, it makes me more relaxed and calm throughout my day. That night, I meditated
again for fifteen minutes. I did not fall asleep this time, and the meditation made me relax right
before I tried to fall asleep. Overall, the meditation was a positive experience. I think that I will
try to meditate in the mornings, as I noticed the biggest difference in my mornings. I feel like
starting my mornings with meditations overall made me feel a lot calmer, despite being so
stressed this week.
