FAM kit
( Food and medicine kit )
INTRODUCTION
While reading a newspaper article about floods in sourthern asia , we
came across the problem faced by the victims related to medical
emergencies and scarcity of food and water supplies . After
brainstorming we came up with the design of the FAM kit , it is an
emergency kit for people and regions affected by flood . It is a
hexagonal box , placed on docks which makes it float on water and
reach it’s respective place , with headlights on top , abundant space
for medical kit , groceries , food supplies and water supplies . It is
placed on a strong waterproof base along with a transparent lid to
protect the essentials from sunlight , rain or any expected or
unexpected danger .

 Need Statement
Flooding accounts to 40% of all natural disasters worldwide and causes
about half of all deaths from natural disasters. It causes orthopaedic injuries
, acute medical problems , hunger , havoc and distress among th people
trapped in the disaster zone . It also causes emotional trauma , and timely
control and rescue is needed .
The FAM kit serves to this purpose , it provides with all the necessities
required by the victims , such as 72 hour food kit , emergency first aid and
medical box , to prevent any further damage to human health , a radio phone
to communicate as in when the supplies start getting over so that new
supplies can be sent over , it‘s excellent feature of floating on water makes it
an efficient boat to , which will help people commute or reach out to relief
camps. This kit acts as the basis for all preventive and vital steps that need
to be taken during a flood or any related calamity

PRIMARY NEEDS:

walls/borders: to prevent the essentials from falling off and protection from flood water or any
possible hazard .

Strong waterproof base: safe placement of food and medicines

[ all important items i.e. medical kit , first aid box , food that
can survive for 72 hours , blankets , extra medicines , radio
phones should be in the calamity kit at all times ]
