ANALYZE
1. If the student is at the heart of all assessment. then all assessment should support student learning.
Do you agree? Why or why not?
Answer: Yes. Assessment is the basis if students gain knowledge and understanding towards the
lesson being taught to them. Assessment is the collection of how students master the subject lesson,
remember and comprehend the discussions.
2. Does assessment as learning have the same ultimate purpose as assessment for learning?
Answer: Yes. Assessment as learning occurs when teachers use inferences about student progress to
inform their teaching, and assessment as learning occurs when students reflect on and monitor their
progress to inform their future learning goals. These two unite to achieve desired teaching and
learning process.
REFLECT
The primary purpose of assessment is not to measure but to further learning. Reflect on your personal
experiences of assessment in school. Were you given opportunities for self-assessment! if yes, what was
its impact on your learning?
Answer: It measures my gained knowledge towards the lesson, solidate and inform my strengths and
weaknesses towards my learnings. It also a way of developing my cognition in digesting ideas that
further help in my understanding.
C. Aligning Assessment Task with the Learning Outcome
ANALYZE
1. Is the assessment tasks aligned to the learning outcome?
Answer: Yes. There is an alignment of assessment tasks to the learning outcomes.
2. What are possible consequences if teacher's assessment tasks are not aligned to learning outcome/s?
Does this affect assessment results? How?
Answer: The possible consequences if teachers'assessment tasks are not aligned to learning
outcome/s are; the students motivation and learning are less effective, low score results since the
teaching and learning being discussed are not connecting.
Without the alignment between learning objectives and learning activities/assessments, students will
spend time on activities, assignments and assessments that do not lead to intended goals.

REFLECT
Reflect on past assessments you have been through. Were they all aligned with what your teacher
taught (with learning outcomes?
Answer: Yes.
How did this affect your performance? As a future teacher, what lesson do you learn from this past
experience and from this observation?

ANALYZE
1. What parts must a TOS contain to ensure test content validity?
Answer: To ensure test content validity, the parts must it have is the objectives/learning outcomes.
3. With OBE in mind, is it correct to put learning outcome not topic in the first column? Why or why not?
Answer: No. I think it is important to put in the first place the learning outcomes so that the flow of
information is easily identified considering that it is the basis in the giving tests on the different
cognitive level.
4. Can a teacher have a test with content validity even without making a TOS?
Answer: Yes. But lack reliability
5. Complete the given TOS.

Read this conversation and reflect on teachers’ assessment practices. Write your reflections here.
Student A: Saan naman pinulot ni Teacher ang kaniyang tanong? Niisang tanong sa tinuro, wala! (Where
did Teacher get her test? Not one of what she taught came out!)
Student B: Oo nga.! Nakakaiinis! (You are right! How annoying!")
Did you have a similar experience? Reflect on it. Will the required use of Table of Specifications as guide
in test construction solve the problem of misaligned tests?
Answer. Yes. When I am in my Senior High School years of study.
Yes. The required use of Table of Specifications is a guide in the misalignment of tests construction
because it develop a content validity based on the objectives. The tests are planned and balanced
based on the different cognitive level.
2. Which do you prefer - the old or the new grading system? Why?
Answer: For the Resource Teacher, she preferred the new grading system because it is easily usable
and not a waste of time.
C. Review of DepEd Order # 8, s. 2015

Based on DepEd Order 8, s. 2015, answer the following:

Answer:All grades will be based on the weighted raw score of the learners summative assessments.
There is minimum grade needed to pass a specific learning areas.
2. How do you compute grades per quarter for Grades 1 to 10 and Grades 11 to 12. Give an example.
Answer: In a grading period, there is one Quarterly Assessment but there should be instances for
students to produce written work and to demonstrate what what they know and can do through

Answer: For Grades 1-10 the average of the Quarterly Grades (QG) produces the Final Grade . The
General Average is computed by dividing the sum of all final grades by the total number of learning
areas. Each learning area has equal weight. The Final Grade in each learning area and the General
Average are reported as whole numbers.
4. What descriptors and grading scale are used in reporting progress of learners?
Answer: The Descriptors and the Grading scale are as follows:
Descriptor Grading Scale
Outstanding 90-100
Very Satisfactory 85-89
Satisfactory 80-84
Fairly Satisfactory 75-79
Did Not Meet Expectations Below 75
5. What are the bases for learners' promotion and retention at the end of the school year?
Answer: The bases for learners promotion is when the students get higher grade after computing the
overall of her grades from first to last quarter, but, if he/she has did not meet the expectations he/she
must retained.
For Grades 4-10 Learners
Requirements Decisions
Final Grade of at least 75 in all learning areas Promoted to the next grade level
Did Not Meet Expectations in not more than two Must pass remedial classes for learning areas
learning areas. with failing mark to be promoted to the next
grade level. Otherwise the learner is retained in
the same grade level.
Did Not Meet Expectations in three or more Retained in the same grade level
learning areas
Must pass all learning areas in the Elementary Earn the Elementary Certificate
Promoted to Junior High School
E. Grade Computation
Show sample computations of a grade:
in a subject of your choice from Grades 1 to 6 (if you are a future elementary teacher)
in your specialization if you are a high school teacher)
Show the percentage contributions of written work, performance tasks and quarterly assessment. Then
give the descriptor. Refer to DepEd Order # 8, s. 2015.

OBSERVE
Analyze data and information gathered from the interview and from your review of an unused Student’s
Report Card and the DepEd grading system.
1. Do teachers like the new grading system? Why or why not?
Answer: Yes. Teachers can easily compute the grade through the three components of grading.
Encoding of outputs is easy and it focuses on the performance of the students.
2. What are the good points of the new grading system according to teachers?
Answer: It will facilitate joyful and stress free learning, It provides learners with more flexibility and
lead to a focus on a better learning environment.
3. What are teachers challenged to do by this new grading system?
Answer: The skills of students are not tested equally. Classwork, assessments, homeworks and
projects are all being submitted to teachers online, but digital work presents new challenges, and
grading is taking much longer online than with hard copies.
4. Do you favor the distribution of percentages of written work, performance tasks and quarterly
assessment?
Answer: Yes. I am in favor.
5. Did you like the experience of computing grades? Why or why not?
Answer: Yes. because it is very easy and simple.
