Tabon cave

Personally, while researching about the Tabon caves it made me wonder about how far
us Filipinos have gotten. Not only because it was literally millenniums ago but because of how
they evolved into us. How much we have improved since then. It has sprouted into how we
treat freedom and religion and how important those two are to us Filipinos. Before I researched
about the Tabon cave I initially thought that it was just one big cave because honestly, I really
didn’t care about the caves because to me back then they were just like any other cave. True
that they were pretty much normal caves but it’s the content and history that matters. Turns out
I was wrong.

The Tabon cave, also known as the Philippines’ cradle of civilization, was used to inhabit
and as a place to manufacture tools that were used way back. I have learned that us Filipinos or
even the human population is inevitable to permanent changes that may be good or may be bad
in the perspective of other people. I have also learned how fun and fascinating it is to research
the past of our country and the people who reside in it. Because there may be lessons learned
from what they did or what they didn’t do and it is useful to retain knowledge as you grow older
and who knows maybe I could become a significant figure in the future and people will research
about me. Even if it occurred far back in the past, the people who used to reside in the cave are
superstitious and have shown signs that they have believed in life after death as shown in the
Manunggul jar. The details ornamented around the jar is sculpted in a way that does not look
messy nor does it look like it belonged in the past. The cave people believed in the after life
before they found out about Christianity. The ingenuity of the cave people was honestly
impressive because they did not have the privilege to be educated because schools probably
don’t exist yet and they have made that cave their home and they were still able to craft such
intricately designed items with the limited resources that they were able to obtain.

In Conclusion, The Tabon cave earned its nickname as the cradle of civilization in the
Philippines because of its inhabitants that eventually evolved into us and it only took a couple
10,000 years for them to do so. With everything that has happened in the Philippines the
existence of the Tabon cave may be overshadowed by more important events that happened
throughout the history of the Philippines like wars and revolutions that made us free from the
clutches of invaders, but the Tabon cave also deserves some recognition for being one of the
oldest structures that have housed the ancestors of humans. It may not have proved that we are
worthy of being an individual country, but it has proved our humanity and
