WHAT IS HISTORY?

For me, history is learning about the past occurrences that leaves big impact to
the world we live in.

ANO ANG KINALAMAN NG HSTORY SA PRESENT?

Relating the past in the present time, past experiences or past occurrences teach
us lessons that could change our perspective in making decisions since we already
have idea what had happen before.

EXAMPLE OF PHILIPPINE HISTORY;

Spanish colonialism is one of the most well-known history that we have in our
country, because aside from it was too long to the point that we can’t even imagine,
Filipino people adapt beliefs that totally change our faith and that is having God in our
hearts.

RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN CULTURE AND PAST

Culture change through time, either we adapt or another belief were introduced
to us. So, since the only permanent in this world is change, the culture we have today is
not totally the exact replica on what we had before. Like what I’ve said from the Spanish
colonization, Filipino people adapt the belief of having one God to the Spanish people.
Before, our ancestors have lots of belief and honor even a tree and so on. But, after
being colonized by Spain, Filipino settled on having one God. I am not generalizing the
totality of this since there are still part in our country who practiced the way our
ancestors do their rituals before they were colonize.

HISTORY IS INTERPRETITIVE

The image shows that our country had gone through lot of colonizers before we
become a free country.

HISTORY IS REVISIONIST

History is revisionist because when there is new hypothesis that was develop by
one historian and is supported by many, history will then again be revise as long as it is
accepted and reasonable.

HISTORY IS A CONTANT PROCESS OF QUESTIONING.

Why let other country control us when in the first place the country belongs to us,
not to them?

WHY DO WE NEED TO STUDY HISTORY?

Studying history helps us appreciate what we have today, and also it helps us
understand that each and every one of us are not the same because our foundation are
not placed on the same spot.
