 How Many Traits Are There?
People can have different levels of these traits, which are measured using
self-report and other assessments.

Researchers have used this model to study how a person's religiousness

and spirituality might be related to their personality traits.
 What aspects of religiousness and spirituality might be
predictable from measures of O, C, E, A, N?
The model has been used in 2 types of research on religion and spirituality.

The first type measures how each of
the five personality dimensions
relates to religion. For example,
people who score high in
agreeableness or conscientiousness
tend to be more involved in religious
activities like prayer.
Another type of research looks at
how a person's scores on multiple
dimensions may predict their
religiousness and spiritual seeking
later in life.
Sixth Dimension ?
Some studies found that scores on agreeableness, conscientiousness, and
openness predict these outcomes. However, there is still some unexplained
variability in these measurements, suggesting that a sixth dimension could
be added.
It's called "spirituality" and is seen as a motive, while religiousness is a
sentiment.
Measuring this sixth dimension could help account for aspects of
personality missing in the Big Five and improve our understanding of
religiousness and spirituality.
Some evidence suggests that this added dimension is cross-culturally
stable.
