2022/05/03 Hydraulic Fan Speed (On Demand) - Test and Adjust (KENR5631-14)
NOTICE
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during
performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and
repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with
suitable containers before opening any compartment or
disassembling any component containing fluids.

D10T Test for Fan Pump
Date Product
Table 1
Introduction
This test will help the technician determine if the pump is providing the correct pressure to the fan system.
This procedure includes the following tests and the following adjustment procedures:
Required Tools
Note: To Eliminate Live Work and reduce the risk of injuries due to tests/adjusts performed on the equipment with the engine running, use a remote
pressure reading with a wireless gauge or add long hoses/wires to keep all personnel away from the machine while the engine is running.

Test Preparation
1. Move the machine to a smooth horizontal location.
6. Turn the key to the ON position, but do not start the engine.
8. Move the control levers through the full range of travel several times. This will relieve any pressure that may be present in the implement
hydraulic system.
9. Make sure that the pressure in the entire hydraulic system has been released.

11. Locate pressure override valve (1) and crossover relief valves (2).
13. Connect Cat® Electronic Technician (Cat ET) Service Tool to the communication port in the operator station.
1. Start the engine. Warm the hydraulic oil to a minimum of 65° C (150° F).

8. Follow the on-screen prompts until you can use the "increment and decrement" buttons near the bottom of the screen.
9. Make a note of the Amperage value before you begin the test. When the test is complete, set the Amperage back to the original value before
conducting any further tests.
10. Slowly "Decrement" the Amperage until the slider bar is all the way to the left.
11. Check the pressure at Tooling (A). The pressure for the POR valve should be 29000 ± 1000 kPa (4206 ± 145 psi)
12. If the pressure is not within the specified limit, perform the procedure in "Adjustment Procedure (POR Valve)".

3. Loosen locknut (4) while you hold adjustment screw (3) in place.
4. Turn adjustment screw (3) in a clockwise direction in order to increase the pressure setting. Turn adjustment screw (3) counterclockwise in
order to decrease the pressure setting.
5. Tighten locknut (4) while you hold adjustment screw (3) in place.

6. Perform the Steps in "Test Procedure (POR Valve)" in order to check the pressure setting.
7. When the pressure is within the specified limit, the adjustment procedure is complete.
1. Install the crossover relief and makeup valve into tooling (B).
2. The setting for the valve is 32000 ± 1000 kPa (4641 ± 145 psi) under the following conditions:
65°C (150°F)
If the crossover relief and makeup valve is not within the specifications, use the adjustment screw to change the pressure setting until the
specifications are met.
