LEARNING STRATEGIES Day 1


WARM UP (5 min) ● Class will begin with students settling in their seats. They will have time to
get out the materials they will need for the day, For today they will only
need a notebook/Sketchbook and a laptop.
INTRODUCTION/ ● The class will begin with a slide show explaining the project. The

LEARNING STRATEGIES Day 7


WARM UP (5 min) ● Class will begin with students setting their in-progress work up on the
board for a midway critique. They should also put the title of their piece
up next to the work.
INTRODUCTION/ ● The class will begin with a slide show showing what they should focus on
MOTIVATION/ today.
Prior Knowledge
WHOLE CLASS 1. Students will take 5-10 minutes to observe each other work up close and

begin.
3. A student offers to go first or is chosen at random. They will start by
stating whose work they are going to be speaking about. they will state
something that they think works positively in the other students' work or
they may ask the artist a question. Questions and observations should
relate back to the information shared at the beginning of class.
4. The artist who just had their work critiqued will be the next to go and may
choose another student's work to talk about. These steps will repeat until
all students' work has been discussed.
5. After each artwork has been critiqued any leftover comments and
questions may be presented by students.
GUIDED & ● Students can write down the feedback that they received to keep in mind

PRACTICE WITH ● Moving forward into the project students should be encouraged to work
UDL together asking for advice not only from the teacher but from each other as
well. They may finish the rest of class by going back to working on their
art.
● Students should use the rest of class time to fill out a PLM or personal
learning matrix. This short questionnaire will help teachers to gather a
better idea of how students are currently viewing themselves as artists and
learners.
