There are several categories or

group of tools or materials for


crop production
Farm Implements: These are accessories which
are being pulled by working animals or mounted
to machineries (hand tractor), which are usually
used in the preparation of land. These usually
made of a special kind of metal.
Hand tools: These are usually light and are used
without the help of animals or machines. It can
be manipulated by hands and no assistance from
any energy. These tools can be used only for
small agricultural works, small farms, small
gardens or areas like at home, school or in
community and each tool has its own purpose.
Common Farm Equipment: These are
machineries used in a crop production. They are
used in huge land preparation and in
transporting farm inputs and products. These
equipment’s need a highly skilled operator to
use.

FARM IMPLEMENTS
• Native Plows/ Disc Plows: Plows are farm
implements either pulled by a working
animal or a tractor. The plow is specifically
used for tilling large areas, making furrows
and inter row cultivation. Plows pulled by
working animals are made of either a
combination of metal or wood or pure
metal. They are used to till areas with a
swallower dept than that of the disc plows
which are pulled by tractors.
• Native Wooden Harrow/ Disc Harrow:
Harrow is made of wood with a metal
teeth and pulled by a carabao while the
disc harrow is made of metal mounted to
a tractor. Harrows are used for tilling and
pulverizing the soil.
• Rotavator: Rotavator is an implement
mounted to a tractor used for tilling and
pulverizing the soil.
There are classification of tools and
equipment
1. Measuring tools: Used for measuring short pieces of
stock, like pull-push rule, Measuring tape, Speedometers
and Caliper.
2. Digging tools: Is the process of using some implement
such as claws, hands, manual, tools or heavy
equipments. / Ex. Shovel, spade, garden fork, rake.
3. Cutting tools: Used to remove materials from a workpiece
in the form of chips. / Ex. Hacksaw, knife, pinking shears,
broach
4. Carpentry tools: Is the activity of making and repairing
wooden things. / Ex. Tape measure, Chisel, Screwdriver,
Hammer
5. Plumbing tools: The system of pipes, tanks, fittings, and
other apparatus required for the water supply, heating,
and sanitation in a building. / Ex. Hacksaw, Pipe wrench,
Plunger, Basin wrench
6. Leveling tools: Is a tool used to determine whether a
surface is horizontal (level) or vertical (plumb) /Ex.
Horrows, Cultivators, Conpactors and combined machines.
7. Miscellaneous tools: Composed of or containing a variety
of things; mixed; having varied capabilities, sides etc. / Ex.
Pliers, Screwdriver, Vaccum cleaner dry wet.
8. Harvesting tools: Is used to harvest crops like wheat,
maize, barely pulses and grass etc. / ex. Sickle or big sickle,
