CODE OF CONDUCT / ETHICS POLICY IN SBI
COMPILATION

The Code of Conduct and Code of Ethics form part of an Organization’s


contract of employment with its staff and apply to all its officers and
employees, whether full-time, part-time or appointed on contractual basis.
The code of Conduct details the legal and ethical obligations of and
expectations from all staff to act in accordance with the expressed standards
of conduct, integrity, and accountability contained in the relevant policies
and agreements formulated therefor. The employees are responsible for their
behavior and obliged to conduct themselves in keeping with the provisions of
the Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct. Where staff conduct does not
meet the standards set out in the Code of Conduct and related policies,
action may be taken under the misconduct provisions of the relevant Service
/ Conduct Rules, Discipline and Regulations applicable to the staff
concerned.

2. In keeping with the above principles of good Corporate Governance and


the need to establish a semblance of discipline in the functioning of the
employees directed towards better customer service, ensuring a healthy
working environment for all the staff to deliver the best of results, maintaining
confidentiality in transactions relating to its various stake holders, etc, the
Bank has put in place Policies, Service Rules, Code of Conduct, Discipline for
compliance / adherence by its employees. Provisions of penal / disciplinary
action for violation of the Code of Conduct / Ethics, Discipline, if any, by the
staff have also been laid down in the relevant service Rules / Conduct Rules
applicable to the Officers and Award staff.
3. Based on the review of the principles of sound management of
operational risk and in compliance of the decision taken in the Operational
Risk Management Committee Meeting held on 9th June, 2015, a compilation
of the extant provisions of the various Code of Conduct / Ethics policies of the
Bank, as have been formulated / stipulated from time to time, has been
made, as one point reference, not only to facilitate better monitoring by the
appropriate authority of its violation, if any, but also to ensure meticulous
compliance thereof by the employees by creating an awareness among
them for doing their work in the most disciplined and ethical manner
to sub-serve the Bank’s Corporate Vision, Mission and Value system . The
compilation of the Code of Conduct and Ethics Policy will, however, not be a
substitution of any other existing or future guidelines of the Bank in the matter.

4. The Code of Conduct / Ethics policies of the Bank , covering the following
areas , have been uploaded in the SBI Times in the HR site under the head
“What’s New” :

a) IT Security Policy & Standards


b) Policy on KYC standards, Anti-money laundering / combating of financing
terrorism measures
c) SEBI guidelines on prevention of insider trading
d) Professional Dress Code
e) Accountability for infringement / transgression in CBS Data and other IT
Tools & Packages of the Bank
f) Whistle Blower Policy
g) Sexual Harassment of women at workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and
Redressal)
h) Code of Conduct for expressing views in Social Media
i) Compliance of GOI directives on Presenting / Offering Gifts to Govt.
Servants
j) Misuse of inscription of vehicle with “Govt. of India” / “Bharat Sarkar “
k) Declaration of Assets & Liabilities under Section 44 of the Lokpal and
Lokayuktas Act, 2013
l) Compliance of Mission, Vision and Value statements of the Bank
