What you need to include in your LinkedIn Profile:

For marking purposes, ensure that these nine points are included in your
LinkedIn profile.
1. Create a LinkedIn profile with a professional photo: Go to
https://au.linkedin.com to create a profile. Your photo can be taken on your
smartphone and should be appropriate for the type of industry/organisational culture
you intend on working for in the future. Check out some examples from industry
practitioners in your field for some inspiration.
2. Summary: include a concise summary of your professional aspirations.
3. Experience: include at least one job in the profile. Please note for students that
have not worked before they may like to include other skills related to their studies or
positions where they have helped in social/community clubs etc.
4. Skills: include at least 5 skills to the profile.
5. Education: include Griffith University and at least one other educational
institution.
6: Interests: include at least 2 key interests/hobbies that relate to your employability
such as industry bodies or association/sporting/cultural/language and social club
participation.
7. Connections: Connect with at least 5 professional contacts (including your tutor).
8. Professional Groups: Join at least 2 professional groups. You can search for
these on LinkedIn. Professional groups might relate to a major or are aligned to an
industry you intend on working for in the future. To find a group:
• Sign into you LinkedIn account
• In the search box type in the name of your major or industry e.g.
‘Human Resources Australia’, ‘Marketing Australia’, ‘Accounting
Australia’
• Select ‘Groups’

• Browse through the group and join if it sounds interesting to you


9. Contact Details: Include contact email in the ‘Contact details’. As an optional
extra you may also choose to provide a link to your ePortfolio if you feel the content
is valuable and relevant to share with future employers/networks. Should you prefer,
you can share your Portfolio once it is more well developed later in your studies.
