Support personal wellbeing in the workplace

Task 1
Demonstrate the following task:
Task 1
Identify any personal and workplace factors that may impact on your wellbeing.
BENCHMARKS
 write a list of personal and workplace factors that influence your wellbeing
 write down whether they are positive or negative factors based on your experiences

Submission requirements:

Please list 8 – 10 PERSONAL wellbeing factors that both positively and negatively affect your day.
Next to each factor identify if it is a positive or negative factor. For example: Sleep – is not a
sufficient answer versus ‘A good night sleep’ = POSTIVE factor is a sufficient answer.

Please list 8-10 WORKPLACE wellbeing factors that positively and negatively affect your day and
identify if they are positive or negative wellbeing factors.

Task 2
Demonstrate the following task:
Task 2
Arrange and plan a discussion with a supervisor regarding your wellbeing.
BENCHMARKS
 contact the supervisor to plan a meeting:
o by phone
o in person
o by email
 decide on a suitable time and place to meet
 invite an objective third party to witness the meeting
 outline to the supervisor what the meeting will be about
 write a plan of what to discuss including:
o positive and negative factors influencing your wellbeing
o prepare assertive statements about the factors
o an outline of the style of communication you will use
o an outline of the way in which you will communicate
o a back-up plan if the response is negative

Submission requirement:

- 1 x screenshot of a calendar invite (Outlook Calendar invite/ Email invite/ or similar method
of invitation). Invite your supervisor and an objective third party to a meeting about your
wellbeing. Please include WHO you are inviting, WHO is attending, WHERE and WHEN the
meeting will take place and a brief explanation of WHAT the meeting is about.

- 1 x plan: On a word document please provide the plan (outline) of your meeting. Please make
sure you plan to discuss both positive and negative factors influencing your wellbeing (list at
least 3 negative factors please). List all the factors you are discussing as assertive statements.
For example, it is not OK to list ‘workload’ as a negative factor. An assertive statement about
your workload will include information such as, if your workload is too much and why, with
a possible solution.

- 1 x paragraph: outlining what the meeting is about and why, where it will take place and why
you chose that location and time, how you would like to approach the meeting (for example:
stomping into the room and shouting at your supervisor is an inappropriate method of
communication to use, please outline your approach and method of communication including
a description about your tone of voice, body language and facial expressions).

- 1 x paragraph: outlining what you will do or who you will go to if the supervisor dismisses
your concerns or does nothing about them (a back-up plan should the meeting fail).

Task 3
Demonstrate the following task:
Task 3
Hold a discussion with a supervisor regarding your wellbeing.
BENCHMARKS
 create and record an action plan to remedy issues with the supervisor
 reach an agreement with the supervisor
 notate a time for when the plan needs to be reviewed and evaluated in a calendar or diary

Submission requirements:

1 x table or word document outlining the negative wellbeing factors discussed at your meeting in
TASK 2. You will need to list the PROBLEM you discussed (what the problem is and why it’s a
problem), the proposed SOLUTION arranged with your supervisor and when you are going to
REVIEW your plan of action, including the date/time and what you want the outcome to be.

Task 4
Demonstrate the following task:
Task 4
Research informal and formal wellbeing resources.
BENCHMARKS
 find formal wellbeing resources through your workplace by:
o contacting HR
o searching on the Internet
o calling a helpline
o contacting a doctor or medical practitioner
o source health and wellbeing magazines and newsletters
o call an EAP
 find an informal wellbeing resource by:
o speaking to friends or family
o attending a local club activity
 analyse the resources for reliability, validity and currency
 document the resources and methods for finding them in a journal or document online
Submission requirements:

1x table: Create a table outlining formal and informal wellbeing resources that you have researched
and document how you found them. Please list WHAT the resources is, WHERE it is (a link, or
details of its location if not online), HOW you found it, if the resource is FORMAL or INFORMAL
and ANALYSE the resource for reliability, validity, and currency.

Reliability: refers to the consistency – can the results be produced again?


Validity: refers to the accuracy – is the information accurate or is it a personal opinion?
Currency: is the information current or out of date?
