22Case Study 1:
Adventure camps are the perfect place for the children to practice decision
making for themselves without parents and teachers guiding their every move. Some
students of a school reached for adventure at Sakieshpur. At the camp, the waiters
served some students with a wecome drink in a cylindrical glass and some students

in a hemispherical cup whose dimensions are shown below. After that they went for a
jungle trek. The jungle trek was enjoyable but tiring. As dusk fell, it was time to take
shelter. Each group of four students was given a canvas of area 551m2. Each group

had to make a conical tent to accommodate all the four students. Assuming that all
the stitching and wasting incurred while cutting, would amount to lm, the students

put the tents. The radius of the tent is 7m.

Ares 3>

i) Find the height of the conical tent prepared to accommodate four students.
ii) How much space on the ground is occupied by each students in the conical tent?

23.Case Study:2
Raksha Bandhan, is a popular annual rite, or ceremony, which is celebrated in

South Asia, and in order parts of the world significantly influenced by Hindu culture.
On this day, sisters of all ages tie a talisman, or amulet, called the rakhi, around the

wrists of their brothers, symbolically protecting them, receiving a gift in return, and
traditionally investing the brothers with a share of the responsibility of their potential
care. Krishna made up a rakhi for his brother Sumit using three circles of radius 2cm,
cm and 2cm respectively. Figure for the same is give below.

25. Case Study 1:
One day Rinku was going home from school, saw a carpenter working on
wood. He found that he is carving out a cone of same height and same diameter from
a
cylinder. The height of the cylinder is 24 cm and base radius is 7em. While watching
this, some questions came into Rinkus mind. Help Rinku to find the answer of the

following questions.

) Find the slant height of the conical cavity so formed.

i) What is the external curved surface area of the cylinder?
ii) Find the volume of the conical cavity so formed.

22.Case Study:2
A child is playing with a cone and ball. He is throwing the ball upward and

try to catch it in the cone. When he get tired, he sat down on the floor and start
thinking about the 2D shape of the ball inside the cone and draw it on a paper as
shown below. Based on the figure answer the following questions?

i) IfOC=10 cm, AC -8 cm, find the radius of the ball

ii) Find 2OCB+ 2OBA.

ii) If AC-21 cm and BC x+5, then find x.
