GUIDELINES FOR FESTIVAL DANCE COMPETITION 2023

1. Must be bone fide students of Digos City National High School.


2. The contest pieces must be at least THREE (3) to FOUR (4) minutes, more than one (1) minute
is a point deduction in every judge’s final score.
3. Philippine Festival music should be used, dances could be in religious or non-religious festival.
It should be in canned and maybe edited to enhance choreography and personal performance.
It is recommended to bring back up flash drive.
4. Appropriate attire should be observed in the competition. Removing pieces of clothing during
performance is allowed provided it is not offensive or out of character.
5. Routine must consist primarily of Festival movements and may include ethnic dance steps. NO
ACROBATIC TRICKS WITH A FLIGHT ALLOWED or any dangerous stunts. A point deduction in
every judge’s final score.
6. Choreography should be in line with the concept or theme being depicted.
7. The competition MUST NOT contain inappropriate lewd or offensive language or actions.
8. Hiring a dance choreographer is strictly prohibited.
9. Dance practices should be done inside the school campus. No practices allowed outside the
school or during the weekend. Failure to follow the rules may result to disqualification.
10. The decision of the Board of Judges is final and irrevocable.

CRITERIA FOR JUDGING

• Choreography (Artistry of movement/formation and Synchronization) 30%


• Performance and Execution (Unity, Mastery and Skills) 25%
• Theme/Concept (Relevance to the theme they represent) 25%
• Overall Production (Creativity, Props, Costumes and Audience impact) 20%
TOTAL: 100%
