AND OBJECTIVES OF IOA


Brief introduction to IOA

IOA stands for Indian Olympic association. It is the


governing body for the olympic movement and the
commonwealth games in India.

From 1948 onwards, because of the IOA's wider


outreach, India began sending delegations of over 50
athletes in several sports, each selected by its sports
federation, to the Summer Olympics.
IOA was formed in 1927, with Sir dobraji Tata as the
founding president.
What are the role and responsibilities of
IOA?

IOA is responsible for selecting athletes to represent India


on international levels, and for management and
organization of the teams and athletes at the events.
THE OBJECTIVES OF IOA

● IOA works to promote olympic and develop the olympic


movement in India
● To encourage the youth of India to participate, and physical and
moral education.
● To take strict action against misbehavior within IOA and
affiliations
● To create olympic academies and museums related to olympic
feats in India
● Enforcement of all rules and regulations of IOC and IOA
● To be the official organization that takes care of all matters
related to olympics events in India
● To undertake the financial management, transport,
maintenance and welfare of teams being sent from India
● Organize and control the selection, accommodation and
training and coaching of the athletes being sent from India
The authoritative body of IOA
There have been 14 presidents of IOA so far with Anil Khanna being
the most newly appointed president
The IOA executive council consists of 30-35 members each being
responsible for a different overall sport
Guaranteed future feats of the IOA

The first lady of IOA Neeta Ambani is the driving force behind the
vision of India's successful bid to host the 2023 IOC session
