Based on the information provided, Mr. X will likely be in the
pre-contemplation stage of change. This stage indicates that the cost of the problem
has yet to be recognized and Mr X is not considering changing for the better even
though he is already being referred to a dietitian.
Firstly, he stated that he did not exercise and had no time to do so. He had
tried to jog but then quit as he did not see any changes in his weight. His behaviour
shows that he is still in denial and not seriously considering changing his behaviour.
He stops exercising after trying for a while and also shows he has no will to change
for the better. Another piece of information that indicates that he is still in the denial
phase is he feels great about his body even though he is categorized as obese class
II.
Furthermore, he shows that he is not ready to make changes regarding his
dietary habits by claiming it is hard for him to eat healthy food and consumes large
portions of white rice and fast food regularly. He also avoids vegetables or fruits as
he claimed it is hard to find them in uniSZA. These behavoiur indicates that he is not
yet ready to change as eating fast food regularly and eat less white rice could be
applied to his dietary habit.
Besides that, Mr. X attends the session to make his mother happy and not to
change for the better for his own health. This clearly shows that he is not yet
considering changing his behaviour.
Overall, based on the information given, Mr. X is likely to be in the
pre-contemplation stage of change, showing that he is still in denial and not yet
considering changing his behaviour.
