DISCUSSION 3

There was a slight decrease in photoconductive output voltage then a rapid

decrease and then a steady decrease as the lamp filament voltage continued to
increase.
A photoconductive cell is a light sensitive semiconducting device whose electrical
conductivity varies with the amount of light falling on it. If voltage is applied
across the cell it is found to vary with the light intensity. With no illumination, the
conductivity decreases and increases with illumination. In absence of light, the
resistance of the photoconductive cell is very high and hence current is measured
is also very low. This current is called dark current and resistance corresponding
to this is called dark resistance. This reduction in current leads toa voltage drop
across the load resistor.
THE photoconductive cells are used in various places like:
 The photoconductive cells are used in light sensitive alarms, fast
recording situations, automatic street lights, lightning control, etc.
 Photoconductive cells can be used for detecting the location of
aircraft and ships with help of radiations coming out from the
exhaust.
 They are used to wither switch on or off the transistors in electronic
circuits.
 Photoconductive cells are used at LED current level.
CONCLUSION 2
In conclusion, we got to observe the photoelectric cell utilizing photoconductivity
so that an increase in illumination causes a decrease in electrical resistance and
permits the flow of a greater electrical current. The results were as per
anticipated.
