Conscientious and regenerative

TOURISt GUIDE
of the andean choco
PRESENTATION
On its first edition the “Conscientious and regenerative tourist
Guide for the Andean Chocó” promotes a regenerative and
conscientious approach to tourism in the northwest region of
Pichincha.

Our aim is to provide the public information about safe and

regenerative sites to visit and contribute to the reactivation of
tourism initiatives which in turn, provide ecological and social
benefits to the Andean Chocó.

This Guide gathers existing information from cartography,

productive systems, biodiversity, archaeology, etc. Tourism
initiatives with good social and environmental practices were
issued a public invitation to be part of this proposal. About 20
initiatives went through a validation process and provided the
information we now share with you.

This Guide is a first step towards a conscientious and

regenerative tourism in the Andean Chocó, it is our desire
that even more initiatives will join these efforts to achieve
cooperation and strengthen the value chains protecting the
health of the inhabitants, ecosystem regeneration and local
community welfare.
Conscientious and regenerative
tourism

Fundamentally, we invite you to participate in building

conscientious tourism, where those participating know
what ecological, social, and cultural consequences are
linked to their participation in the tourism value chain
and are well informed.

The term regenerative implies that tourism activity will

have positive consequences or impacts on people’s
health, nature, and host communities. We go beyond
sustainability since we are not only trying to preserve
or maintain something for future generations. Rather,
we propose to restore, regenerate, clean, and to be an
active agent for change.

I leave it better than i found it!
