ENGLISH SPEECH

Good Morning the honorable assesors, before starting my presentation, first of

all, let me introduce myself. My name is Ni Putu Angelica Patricia Loveliyani and
people usually called me Liyan or Angelica. I’m from 12 Science 1. My absent
number is 30. Now I will present speech on the theme of education. The topic that I
chose is education during the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia.

Ladies and gentleman, on this occasion I would like to deliver a speech that
carries education theme, more specifically education in Indonesia during the
Covid-19 pandemic. Up until now, our country is still being hit by a pandemic even
though it has entered a recovery period after being hit by the Covid-19 pandemic for
about three years since 2020 ago. Since last year which is 2022, most schools like
Kindergarden, Elementary school, Junior High School, Senior High School, and
University have started conducting face-to-face schooling, although several of it still
implement online school.

Ladies and Gentlemen, as we all know, teachers and students were suddenly
required to understand more about technology when the government implemented
distance learning or online learning, but problems come up when there were still
many students who didn't have gadgets, not to mention schools that located in a
remote area that still have poor internet connection, of course delivery of educational
material during this pandemic is not optimal. Teachers are required to be more
creative because distance learning has more challenges, beside that there's also
external causes like most children who are given gadgets or cellphones to study
instead a lot of it is misused it for negative things, for example there is a high school
student who has never owned a smartphone before, then he bought a gadget in the
form of a smartphone for online learning purposes which is instead he used it to
online socialize where the safetiness cannot be trusted so that in the end he is plunged
into promiscuity. Besides that, actually there are many other obstacles experienced by
both students and teachers, but of course we should not just surrender in that situation
and blame our circumstances and conditions instead.

The government, especially the Minister of Education and it's related teams, of
course issued several policies related to changes the education aspect due to the
impact of this pandemic. They issued various policies and regulation such as revising
joint decisions (SKB) to adjust learning policies in the current pandemic era. Various
schools in Indonesia were also given the flexibility to choose a curriculum that suits
their students' learning needs during the pandemic, for example the 2013 Curriculum,
the Emergency Curriculum (the simplified 2013 Curriculum), and the Prototype
Curriculum. In addition, the Ministry of Education and Culture will also provide
internet quota subsidies for students. , teachers, and lecturers for four months

 (September to December 2020) where we all know and agreed that this assistance has
greatly decrease the burden on parents and teaching staff so they do not need to spend
more money for internet needs.

Ladies and gentlemen, we all agree that the enthusiasm and spirit for learning
must grow from within each of us, so that under any circumstances learning can still
be carried out even though the school implements online or online learning. One
important lesson we can learn from the Covid-19 pandemic situation is, we are
starting to realize that we are currently in an era of digitalization that is developing
very rapidly. From that awareness, we must be able to grow hand in hand with the
rapid development of nowday's technology. As students, we must have the intention
to learn new things, especially those that are closely related to the digital world. Apart
from that, even though security against a pandemic is getting less strict,we still have
to obey with health protocols recomendations such as wearing masks, using hand
sanitizers, maintaining distance, washing hands, and so on.

The honorable assesor, that’s all my presentation.I really apreciate all the
attention that has been given, I hope the topic that I raised today can be useful for all
