Currently, I am a senior at James Madison University and will complete my degree in
music education with a choral concentration in May 2023.

Through my undergraduate studies, I was selected as the student conductor for our annual
ChoralFest, directing over 200 singers in a mass choir. I also served as an undergraduate
teaching assistant student conductor for the JMU University Choir: Soprano/Alto. In
addition to my course work and studies, I have gained valuable experience performing
solo as well as with JMU’s top ensembles. Singing with The Madison Singers and the
JMU Chorale, I had the opportunity to work with and perform with several world-
renowned groups such as Tenebrae, The King’s Singers, and Soweto Gospel Choir.

My undergraduate studies have continued to grow my passion for music and furthered
my desire to share that passion with others through teaching. Providing a space for my
students to feel comfortable and confident expressing themselves through music in
various fashions is the atmosphere that I aspire to create. I also strive to plant a seed of
lifelong skills into each of my students, teaching them professionalism, leadership, and
community engagement.

My passion for music, skills and knowledge in music education, and previous teaching
experiences have prepared me for a career in choral music. I would welcome the
opportunity to join the teaching community at XXX school. I am excited to take the next
steps in my career journey, utilizing the skills I have acquired in my time in the music
department at James Madison University.
