Principles of Social Responsibility

1. How can you effectively teach principles of social responsibility to students?
As a Japanese language teacher, I not only teach the grammar and daily expressions to my
students, but I also incorporate the Japanese culture when I prepare my class modules. I
believe that it is essential for my students to understand the Japanese way of thinking, ethics,
beliefs and faith. When they get the chance to visit Japan, they will be able to obey the laws
and regulations of the country. This will not only show their respect and understanding of the
country’s traditions but they will also be able to display their maturity as an adult and a decent
representive of our country.
2. How can you create a classroom environment that fosters social responsibility?
After each lecture of the Japanese grammar, I show my students videos of how the Japanese
conduct themselves in business settings and in other occassions like dining in a restaurant,
shopping at a department store or visiting a native Japanese house. I would also ask my
students to create their own original skit and perform a similar scenario in front of the class.
This way they will be able to practice the polite expressions they learned from the videos and
experience the proper way of conducting oneself in front of a client, guest or new acquaintance.
b. Developing a Sense of Social Responsibility
1. How can you help students develop a sense of social responsibility?
During lecture, I always ask my students to compare the culture of Japan and the Philippines. I
also ask them to write an essay about the many things they find interesting or odd about Japan.
When they do their own research outside the classroom, they will have the opportunity to learn
and appreciate the good and bad side about Japan. This way they can prepare themselves from
any surprise or misfortune they might encounter during their travel or stay in Japan. They will
surely make good decisions and have high regards of other people’s principles and beliefs.

2. In your opinion, what role does personal values and beliefs play in developing a sense
of social responsibility?
A person reflects on his personal values and beliefs when making a decision. If a person lacks a
deeper understanding of one’s culture or principle it may lead to disagreements or even a
conflict.

c. Work Ethics: Relating to Administrators and Colleagues

1. What are some key principles of work ethics that employees should keep in mind
when interacting with administrators and colleagues?
I think that an employee must read and understand the mission and vision of one’s company.
An employee should also be able to recognize his self-worth and carry high self-esteem to be
able to create a harmonious relationship with his or her fellow colleagues. I also believe that an
employee should continue learning and improve himself or herself while working for the
company to display respect and gratitude towards the management. I think that the
administrators will be able recognize an employee’s effort and hardwork when he or she is
efficient and effective in the workplace. This kind of relationship shall create a pleasant
relationship among the employees and the management.
2. How can you effectively communicate with your administrators and colleagues to
ensure that you are meeting with your work responsibilities and fulfilling you
obligations?

I update my boss about my students progress in class. My supervisor visits my class frequently
to observe my students performance during lecture. After the observation, I meet with my
supervisor and share with her my experiences and discuss with her the challenges I have during
the lecture. My supervisor gives me feedback and share with me her comments and
suggestions on things I need to improve on my teaching method. My supervisor pays another
visit to my class to check on my improvement and the students response.

d. Balancing Work and Family

1. How do you make time with your family and balancing work
After a busy week, I make sure I have quality time with my family. I enjoy having lunch with
them on Saturdays or Sundays. I watch movies with my nephews and nieces in our house. We
make plans ahead of time and schedule meet-ups and schedule family gatherings.
I have a regular work schedule that’s why it is easy to create activities with my family.

2. Are there any specific techniques or approaches that can help individuals manage
their time and prioritize their commitments.
It is easier now to manage one’s time and follow one’s schedule because of all the social media
application like messenger, viber or instagram available online. You can easily post or share
your schedule to a facebook or viber group. I keep a log book or a diary of my daily schedule. I
write all my activities for the week and plot them on my daily planner taking into consideration
the most and least important task.

e. Managing Finances
1. What are some best practices for managing personal finances?
I keep a logbook for my income and finances. I write my daily expenses in my logbook.
When I am aware of my daily financial affairs, I have clearer vision of my future expenditures
and I can also expand or limit my budget.
2. How can you protect yourself against financial risks such as fraud?
Before I engage myself in any business deal, I do my reseach and study the situation. I ask
advice from people who are expert in their fields.

f. Relating to the Community

1. How important is community involvement in promoting student success?
The community is a mirror of a student’s future. A student is inspired to do well in school when
he is in a healthy community that promotes better life for each member of the community. A
student is motivated to establish himself or herself in whatever career he or she wants to
pursue when the community is progressive.

2. As a teacher, How important is it to connect with your community?

Here in our country, we have high regards to our teachers. That’s why teachers can easily
encourage the members of the community to attend and be kind to their children. Our teachers
have great influence not only to their students but to many people.
