 2022-2023 Block Scheduling Bell Schedule

Please note that we will continue block scheduling with a different format this year. The schedule will include Day 1, Day 2, Day 1 Modified (Day 1M), Day 2
Modified (Day 2M), and Day 3 (to be used as needed). The overall daily bell schedule will be posted to the Google Calendar for the school year. The first days of
school will consist of Day 3's. Students will visit every class on a Day 3 schedule, but will exclude the F Block.

As you will note, Day 1 and Day 1M include the same courses. Day 1’s order is A, B, C, D; however, Day 1M inverts periods B and D to reflect A, D, C, B. The same
change applies to a Day 2 (E, F, G, H) and Day 2M (E, H, G, F) schedule. Periods C and G will include designated lunch blocks. Lunches are assigned by classroom
and building. Please review your Periods C and G for your scheduled lunch block. All lunch times are included on the bell schedule above.

NEW**** What is an F-Block?

We are excited to announce the launch of our new F-Block! The F-Block is a special block used for a variety of educational purposes and to limit the number of
interruptions to the regular classroom time.. Students are assigned to an F-Block classroom by grade level. All students will be required to report to their F-Block at
the start of the block, regardless of the scheduled activity. During this block, students may use the time in one or more of the following ways:

- Mass Days - All school masses will be held during F-Block on Day 2’s only.
- Pep Rallies - Pep rallies will be held during F-Block on Day 2M’s only.
- Wellness Blocks - Wellness Blocks are a great way for students to destress and interact with other Gibbons students through activity, meditation, sports, and
more. With mental health on the rise, we will continue to implement Wellness Blocks throughout the school year.
- All School Assemblies - There will be grade-level specific or all school assemblies held.
- College Representative Visits - College reps are on campus throughout the school year and opportunities to learn about various colleges will be held.
- Study Hall - Students may study for an upcoming exam, complete homework or classroom assignments, read quietly, or assist others on academic work.
- Group Projects - Students in need of working on a group project my pre-register during this block to work in the Tech Center with their group.
- School Counseling Office - Students may visit their advisor to discuss their academic performance, growth, four-year track, and/or college plan.
- Make-Up Testing - Students who are absent may visit the make-up testing room to complete a test during the F-Block.
- Club Meetings - Club meetings may take place during the F-Block. Students who are registered with a club may attend the meeting.
- Prayer in the Chapel: Students who would like to visit the chapel for prayer or meditation may do so during the period.
- Student Learning Center (SLC) - Teachers and honor society students will be available in the new SLC (located in the Engineering Room) during the
F-Block for tutoring, remediation of assignments, study tips, and more. Teachers will also assign students to attend sessions at the SLC if further instruction or
assistance is needed to support student learning in the classroom.
- Research and Writing Lab (RWL) - Teachers will be available in the RWL to assist students with research and writing skills, assignments, and projects.
Specific workshops will also be available during this period for students wanting to improve their overall research skills and writing capabilities in preparation
for college.
- Early Dismissal - All Early Dismissal days fall on a Day 2M. F-Block falls into the last period of the day and is eliminated from the schedule for the day.

These options will slowly be implemented over the course of the first quarter. Students MUST have pre-register to leave their assigned F-Block classroom to attend
another educational activity. Students will NOT be permitted to leave early for the day or be dismissed to go home during F-Block. Please plan accordingly. More
detailed information about F-Block will be provided and posted to students and parents. Bell schedules will be reviewed and discussed during student orientation.
