During our visit in the clinical laboratory of Dr. Jorge P. Royeca Hospital, we
were able to observe that the laboratory facility is still not well-established
structure wise. There are still areas under development and some things are
still in temporary locations. Nevertheless, the employees are commendable
since they portrayed that they are well-synced ,well-trained and well-
organized mainly because despite our abrupt interruption in the lab, they
were still able to perform their respective roles in the lab as they still kept
laboratory work going. The assigned personnel to give as a tour and explain
to us what happens in the laboratory specially in the POCT, was able to tell us
what we need to know and showed confidence in doing so, which means she
really knows what she is doing.
In terms of the documents, they were able to show us the forms that they use
and a copy of the work flow that they follow. But these papers are still not
properly filed and parts of it are still being accomplished, as per the assigned
personnel. We were also able to see the materials the people in the POCT use
in their routine work.
Other observations:
All in all, our visit at DJPRH essentially taught us that a Clinical Laboratory
must always be well equipped and the staff must always be well trained to
achieve a degree of competency and efficiency. We believe that it is very vital
for us, a future Laboratory Managers, to understood basic workflows and
requirements in the Lab so we can create and achieve an accurate, precise,
and reliable Clinical Laboratory.
