ABSTRACT

I have been undergoing my internship training at MyCEO Publishing since 29th

December 2022 and will be finishing on the 18th of April, 2023. MyCEO Publishing is
a company that produces its own books, alike planners and novels on various online
platforms. Since the first week of my internship placement, I have been assigned to
the Sales and Marketing department of the company by my supervisor, Miss Siti Nur
Aishah.

As I have shared my ideas and explained my skills, my supervisor and manager have
decided it would be best to pair me up with another existing marketing intern to bring
the best outcome to the table.

For the last 13 weeks that I have undergone my industrial training, I have been
assigned many sorts of tasks that are different from each one of them on weekly basis.
For the most part of it, I handled marketing which includes me being a content creator.
I am also responsible to find related material and platforms to bring in as new options
for the company to explore with the purpose of expanding their sales and brand
awareness.

During my time here, I have gone through the rejection of ideas and acceptance of
new alternatives that have brought the most benefit to the company’s product
awareness to the public eye. With the approach I have offered to the company, so far
it has been great in bringing in more brand knowledge among the youngsters as we
have started to use platforms that are mostly used by young adults, such as Twitter
and Tiktok.

As much as I have learnt, the experiences I have gathered from my internship

placement can prepare me for the working reality if I want to go forward in the
marketing career path sooner or later. I also have learnt more ways to wrap myself
around the creativity that is much needed in this era, especially with the growing online
platforms that are now deemed necessary with a lot of talent and editing skills that
would be beneficial for future companies or freelancing that I can get myself into.

3
I have three weeks left to finish my internship at MyCEO Publishing and that day would
come to an end on the 18th of April, 2023. With the balance of time I have left, I would
benefit from it to the maximum use for myself to explore digital online platforms and
the marketing world. I would also build more experience and social skills when I
continue my tasks in the Sales department.

I have learnt and tried my best to settle the tasks assigned to me by the set time given.
Following the deadline is a soft skill that is hard to achieve but it is great to train me
into following real-time of the actual career experience. All the lessons and tasks are
very useful to my knowledge for the future time in my career path.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

Praises to Allah, the Almighty above.

Assalammualaikum, here I introduce myself. My name is Nadia Nabilah binti Zainal, a

student of the Kolej Poly-Tech MARA Bangi (KPTMB) that have underwent industrial
training with MyCEO Publishing for the last few months. Words cannot utter my
thankfulness for the support and help given specially by my co-workers, managers
and KPTMB team itself.

Major thanks should go to the lecturers from my past subjects I have learnt from these
wonderful and brilliant teachers. They have taught me the basics and skills that I might
not have gathered myself without their guidance. Otherwise, I would not have
succeeded in the achievements and lessons during my internship more than I should.
Their guidance previously have given me a better perspective, better skillful set and
understanding into the work life I have went through during my time at MyCEO
Publishing.

Not to forget, my supervisor, Miss Siti Nur Aishah, that have helped me through my
industrial placement at the company she’s serving the best at. She have indeed put
me through tasks that is fit to my existing skills and pushed my best ability to the
maximum.

The former classmates that have reached out to give me their hand when I needed
help were another biggest supporter mentally, emotionally and physically and for
them, I am grateful to have them by my side to finish our internship together in
excellence from day to day.

OBJECTIVES

OBJECTIVES OF THE REPORT

Hereby I issued Kolej Poly-Tech MARA Bangi and my academic supervisor, Madam
Fauziah this report is with the hope of providing evidence of the industrial training I
have undergone at MyCEO Publishing as a marketing intern for the last 13 weeks,
since 29th December of 2022 to present. The official finishing date of my internship
placement will be on 18th April of 2023.

In addition to the fact, the objective of this report is to highlight the responsibilities and
tasks that I have been assigned to during the period of my industrial training. This
report may also serve as a reference for myself in the future, when I might use it to
research my career prospects and potential employers.. If the prospects I've trained
meet the criteria for their company's current employee requirements and policy, they
may utilize the evidence in this report as a reference for them.

Moreover, by writing this report, I get to summarize the experiences and lessons I
have learnt during my time here as an intern. This may enable me to appreciate more
of the experiences that I had. To always bear in mind of what I have accomplished
and the skills I have demonstrated to my current employer.

With the existence of this report, my knowledge of the company will not be a waste of
a memory.

6
OBJECTIVES OF INDUSTRIAL TRAINING

The one thing that I have understood of the reason why industrial training is necessary
to students is to overall make them prepare for the reality of the working, as it would
be a very difficult journey in building a career life that will be filled with ups and downs.
It is important to make yourself adaptable to the always changing dynamic working
atmosphere.

Moreover, it is important to make the best outcome from the subjects you have learnt
and the skills you have attained. By entering industrial training, you may apply your
academic knowledge to useful areas and practice the skills. Over the period of your
industrial training, you may be able have upgraded your knowledge and skills to a
better prospect.

For myself personally, I am not much of a teamwork person, as I prefer to work alone
in my own pace. Though, with industrial training at MyCEO Publishing, teamwork was
necessary as a marketing intern must make amends with the graphic team and a
partner by my side to help with marketing endeavours. Within my training, I still enjoy
my lone work pace but a team is now tolerable by any personal means.

What I would add last to the list is the various type of online platforms that being an
intern has exposed myself to. I believed that undergoing industrial training is beneficial
for your knowledge of the relevant issues and modern technology as days went by.
Industrial training is needed to explore the new approaches that the modern world has
created year by year and not to be left behind in the evolving technology.

OVERVIEW OF TRAINING

SALES DEPARTMENT

Since the start of my placement on the 29th of December 2022, I was assigned to sales
department initially. Below I will categorize each task under the sales department for
your reference in detail:-

My first task in the sales department is to handle sales inquiries. The company use a
marketer at times to do product boosting on the official company’s Facebook account
on a daily basis. From here, we have leads, which are customers that will text or use
the Whatsapp application registered in company phones to make an order or to ask
inquiries regarding certain product. Inquiries that are often made by the clientele would
be the price, available promotions and postage fee.

On my end, my task is to answer them from time to time on a daily basis, to ensure
smooth flow of sales and to keep customers waiting from needing the answers. I also
handle the conflicts within customers, especially those might go out of line at times.
The conflict could be caused by the lateness of their order arriving, asking for parcel’s
status or other issues that may come up.

My second task in the sales department is to pack book orders. On average, the
estimation on the amount of orders that have to go out are around the range of 100 to
300 parcels daily. My task is to pack the orders efficiently based on every personalised
order with an accurate packing. To ensure good packaging once it arrives at the
customer’s doorstep, we pack the orders nicely with bubble wrap and send them off
in parcels with the courier accordingly.

My third task in the sales department is to submit customer’s data into the database.
This covers up 2 sections. Firstly, it is going in as the details in paid orders that have
to be shipped out and secondly, the possible clientele names and phone numbers
have to be submitted for boosting or maybe, for the purpose of contacting them later
for a follow up on the orders they have not finalized.

12
My final task in the sales department is to contact customers that failed to make
payment on the company’s website. MyCEO Publishing have an official website for
first time buyers to make a purchase of the available products. Yet, the website system
is not exactly a well-functioning web to make orders. The customers get to submit their
details but have a high possibility of not getting to go through the payment system,
which where they may cancel the order overall.

Here where my task comes in, the details from the cancelled customers still exists in
the website’s database so we get to contact them manually through Whatsapp and
ask them if they are still interested with our product. We will settle their orders manually
like other customers that make manual orders.

MARKETING DEPARTMENT

The second week of my placement, I was then assigned to the marketing department
as the manager sees it fit with my course path. Below I will categorize each task under
the marketing department for your reference in detail:-

My first task in the marketing department is to handle the company’s social media.
The social media that I was responsible for is Instagram and Tiktok, where they have
two different Tiktok accounts with the username @cintapakaiotak and
@myceo_publishing. The Tiktok platform is handled by myself and my marketing
partner, Hakimi. We both handled the video posts from time to time on Tiktok.

My second task in the marketing department is to contact available influencers on

Tiktok and Twitter for a review of our product. I have to discuss on their rate and check
if they can follow the terms that the company have provided for them. I have to also
provide content and copywriting if they need so.

My final task in the marketing department is to handle live sessions. MyCEO

Publishing is still new to doing live on tiktok. So, we are learning together on what
works best for the audience. At times, I will be the one to pose in the live session but
for some exclusivity, the founder will make a live session to connect with the
consumers of her product and I will handle the live as a moderator instead.

13
CONTENT CREATOR

Along with the marketing department that was assigned to me, I was also assigned to
be a content creator for the company’s social media platforms. Below I will categorize
each task under the content creator department for your reference in detail:-

My first task as a content creator is to write script for content shooting. I have done
various script options for the founder to use in her self-branding videos. The script that
I have created are also used in the making of marketing videos and copywriting. Other
than that, the list of script I have created have also been used for voiceovers in video
editing.

My second task as a content creator is to shoot pictures and videos of the available
products. As for the journal and novel, I have been going outdoors to shoot its official
product pictures for the use of marketing and customer’s reference. I have also shot
videos of the company’s products from every angle and different ideas for the use of
marketing as well. My work were done with my marketing partner and our work have
been released and used among all online platforms.

My third task as a content creator is to write content for the company’s product that
was planned to launch. I was assigned to write the content of the book “Cinta Pakai
Otak”, along with its sequel journal that was in the planning as well. I have to pour out
ideas so it is fit with the flow of the initial content of the book.

My final task as a content creator is to create new content for Tiktok, Instagram and
Facebook’s marketing channels. For all these platforms, I have to list usable content
and have it drafted by the end of the first day of every week. With the drafted content,
I have to edit videos based off of it and makes sure that the videos are usable on every
platform. I will always brainstorm with my partners for what type of context should be
used from time to time.

14
DETAILED EXPERIENCE

PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED

During my early time of being assigned to the marketing department, I was having
trouble with content creating mainly. As what I have described for the tasks I am being
responsible for, it is easy to say that in the marketing department, a lot of content
writing that have to be done. This goes from the long scripts, video making and
product’s content writing, which I am most unfamiliar with.

I had issues where I cannot come up with a list of content will be deem excellent and
usable for the marketing world of my company. At the beginning of my learning in the
world of Tiktok editing and whatever attracts the For You Page, I have been posting
videos that did not increase the engagement between the public and the company.

For product’s content writing, I was assigned to write related content of Cinta Pakai
Otak to insert them into the finished result later. Yet, I cannot think of any content that
would work with the concept of the product initially. My thoughts have closed up and
became narrow minded. The creative part onto the publishing world was not really my
best entity and knowledge.

Other than that, since I was assigned to handle the social media accounts of the
company, I was also assigned to handle Tiktok Business. I have zero knowledge of
Tiktok Business and that was a struggle for myself and my partner as we were both
new to it. We had to handle the products being put online and the live sessions, along
with high possibility of getting orders and products suspended for no major reasons.

15
APPROACH FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS

For the content drafting issue, I solved it by learning the product, little by little. I made
myself learn and understand the concept of the products to make myself clear of what
type of content I should achieve to make them engaging to our targeted audience. I
kept on reading the books’ highlight so I can focus on the main points and turn it into
my marketing idea. Slowly, the no thoughts shifted and grew into bigger ideas over
time. I also observe what I do wrong as per my marketing choices and try to correct it
along the way.

For the content writing of the product issue, I tried my best to learn about the purpose
of why the book is made and work my way up from there. I usually try to search as
much articles as possible and gather information from the things that I read. Later on,
I would try to discuss it with the founder if the content I have collected are useful or
more ideas should come within.

Lastly, for the Tiktok Business issue, my partner and I just kept studying other
businesses on Tiktok and try to learn their way. We also made a research of what are
the things we should consider when using Tiktok Business from available Tiktok
Gurus. Overally, my problems are solved by a matter of time with a little bit effort to
widen my understanding onto the products I am handling.

16
PROFESSIONAL AND ETHICAL ISSUES

For the whole of my industrial training here, there was never a time that professional
and ethical issue ever came up over the borders of my training. Everything is well and
fine from this angle and I have no further comments on this prospect.

HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES

For the whole of my industrial training here, there were multiple health issues that may
come between the co-workers and the management handled it well. When one of my
co-workers was infected with Covid-19, she was ordered to do a home self-quarantine
or any treatments that was necessary and was allowed to rest for the set term that the
government has set accordingly.

As per when it comes to personal health issues which might be bad enough for one to
attend work on specific days, the management allow rest days with a medical
certificate provided by the doctor. For my own experience, I had fever and major sore
throat, that comes with flu and persistent cough for the whole month of February. It
was bad enough and I was deeply sick and I was tolerated with two to three full days
of rest days, along with medical certificate provided from my behalf to the company.

As for the environment, the office could be better with better equipment and repairs
that have to be done. For the toilets, they are usable but not flushable at most times
and are due for repair. Yet, no actions were taken for the first two months that I am
here. The office also do not have enough cleaning supplies and are not cleaned
enough as much as per it is from my perspective. The cleanliness were not up to my
personal standards so I took the initiative to tidy up the office area as much as I could
with some of my co-workers as well. It was achievable and possible to clean the office
as it is a small space for an office. It just needs more effort from every behalf.

Other than that, the humanly environment is fine as the people are nice and the head
of management are tolerable and quite easy to talk or discuss with from day to day.

17
CONCLUSION

In conclusion, I would say that industrial training is a really beneficial programme since
it enables me to develop my creative knowledge and practise more in the future. It
helps me develop my self-confidence so that I can handle the realities of working that
I will inevitably encounter in the future.

MyCEO Publishing served as an excellent location for me to complete my practical

training throughout my training process. I've experienced a range of jobs and pursuits.
I have acquired some truly great memories and advantages that will help me grow as
a person both personally and professionally.

I can learn so much and gain so many experiences as a business student here at
MyCEO Publishing. I am appreciative of the offer to join the most supportive and
helpful team. Despite all the difficulties I had, my supervisors and other employees
were all helpful to me along the way by offering guidance and ideas on how to handle
the situation so that I could do the assignment better and more quickly. Overall, this
trip has helped me become a better person and has also given me the tools I needed
to get over my imperfections before I started my training.
