History of Asia

Asia is the world's largest and most diverse continent. It occupies the eastern four-fifths of the

giant Eurasian landmass. The history of Asia can be seen as the collective history of several

distinct peripheral coastal regions such as East Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia and the Middle

East linked by the interior mass of the Eurasian steppe¹.

The continent of Asia has thousands of years of rich history. From prehistoric times to modern

times, it has been home to many different cultures and civilizations. Some of the most notable

civilizations include those of China, India, Japan, Korea, and Southeast Asia³.
