Almost every airline wants to promote a positive image of their business by

focusing on customer service and guests’ experience. One of the most important
positions for this focus is the check-in officer because they are the first staff
contacting the passengers at the airport. A passenger check-in officer has a range
of responsibilities including Greeting passengers on arrival and Checking their
tickets and passports, Weighing and Inspecting baggage, Issuing boarding
passes/cards, Asking security questions, and Dealing with passengers’ enquiries.
Moreover, the check-in officers also have to Direct the passengers to the correct
gate for their flight. Besides,they are responsible to a passenger services
supervisor. They also work closely with other check in officers, dispatchers,
security staff, airline operating staff, etc. To become professional, they need to
have some skills, for example Customer Service, Communication, Problem solving,
Organisation and IT skills. In addition, they need patience and the ability to cope
with customers’ complaints in a calm manner.
