Dua at Arafat

The day of Arafah has a very special significance in Islam. In a tradition

Allah’s Messenger SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam said:

Ma min yaumin aksara min an youtiqallaho fihe abdam minannare min yaume
Arafa wa innahu layadnu summa yubahi behemul malaikatu fayaqulo ma
arada haulaa’e
Translation: There is no day when Allah Ta’ala sets free more servants
from Hell than the Day of 'Arafa. He (Sub’hanahu wa Ta’ala) draws
near, then praises them to the angels, saying: What do they want?‫‏‬
(Muslim).

Arafat is a place where prayers are most likely to be answered by Allah

Ta’ala. In a tradition Allah’s Messenger SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam said:
Khairud dua’ae dua’au youme Arafa.
Translation: The best of supplication is the supplication of the Day of
`Arafah. (Tirmizi)
Allah’s Messenger SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam kept on saying
Sub’hanAllah, Allahu Akbar and La ilaha illAllah and supplicating from
Zuhr Salat to Maghrib Salat.‫(‏‬Muslim).
Therefore a person performing Hajj must be busy in supplicating by heart
at this blessed place, in addition to recitation of the Holy Quran, doing
Zikr, repenting, seeking forgiveness from Allah saying Allahu Akbar and
la ilaha illAllah etc. He should invoke Allah’s blessings on the Prophet
Muhammad SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam. He should repeat talbiyyah, and
supplicate for him in addition to supplicating for his relatives and beloved
ones. In a tradition, Allah’s Messenger SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam said:
Yughfaru lilhajje walamenis taghfara lahu alhajja
Translation: A person performing Hajj is forgiven and the one for whom
he seeks forgiveness is also forgiven. (Mustadrak Hakim)
