1.3 Based on the information from exercise 3 Module 6 EXPRESSING SIMILARITIES

AND DIFFERENCES, use the following adjectives (noisy-clean-expensive-dirty-

crowed-polluted large-old-quite-modern-interesting) to compare a big city and a small

town. Then which one is better to live. Why? Give explanations and reasons. You can

also use more adjectives if you need.

Comparing a big city and a small town, we can say that a big city is generally more

crowded, noisy, polluted, and expensive than a small town. On the other hand, a small

town is typically cleaner, quieter, and more affordable than a big city. However, a big

city offers more modern amenities, interesting activities, and cultural diversity, while a

small town offers a more peaceful and laid-back lifestyle.

If we consider which one is better to live in, it ultimately depends on personal preferences

and needs. Some people might prefer the excitement and opportunities of a big city, while

others might prefer the tranquility and simplicity of a small town.

Living in a big city can be exciting, with access to a wide range of activities,

entertainment, and cultural experiences. Big cities offer more job opportunities and

higher salaries in many fields, as well as more options for education and healthcare.

However, big cities can also be stressful and hectic, with traffic congestion, high crime

rates, and a fast-paced lifestyle that can be overwhelming for some people. Additionally,

the cost of living in a big city is generally higher than in a small town, with higher rents,

property prices, and living expenses.

On the other hand, living in a small town can offer a more relaxed and peaceful lifestyle,

with a sense of community and close-knit relationships. Small towns often have lower
8

crime rates, cleaner environments, and more affordable housing options. However, small

towns can also be limited in terms of job opportunities, educational options, and cultural

diversity. Small towns may also lack the amenities and conveniences that are available in

big cities, such as shopping malls, movie theaters, and large-scale events.

In conclusion, both big cities and small towns have their advantages and disadvantages.

Choosing where to live depends on individual preferences, priorities, and lifestyle goals.

Some people might thrive in the energy and excitement of a big city, while others might

prefer the peace and simplicity of a small town.
