ACCELERATED MOTION
UNIFORMLY ACCELERATED MOTION
-motion of an object where the
acceleration is constant.
-In other words, the acceleration remains
uniform; the acceleration is equal to a
number and that number does not change
as a function of time.
UNIFORMLY ACCELERATED MOTION
HORIZONTAL DIMENSION
VERTICAL DIMENSION
EXAMPLES OF UAM
• A ball rolling down an incline.
• A person falling from a plane.
• A bicycle on which you have applied the brakes.
• A ball dropped from the top of a ladder.
• A toy baby bottle released from the bottom of a
bathtub.
ACTIVITY 1: ROLL ROLL AWAY
Derivation of EQUATION
SAMPLE PROBLEM 1
•An airplane from rest accelerates on
a runway at 5.50 m/s2 for 20.25 s
until it finally takes off the ground.
What is the distance covered before
takeoff?
SAMPLE PROBLEM 2
•A jeepney from rest accelerates
uniformly over a time of 3.25
seconds and covers a distance of 15
m. Determine the acceleration of
the jeepney?
ASSIGNMENT:
•A train accelerates to a speed of 20
m/s over a distance of 150 m.
Determine the acceleration (assume
uniform) of the train.
UNIFORMLY ACCELERATED MOTION –
VERTICAL DIMENSION
•Gravity
-a force that attracts a body toward the center of
the earth or any other physical body having mass.
•Free-Fall?
-it is the downward motion under the
influence of gravity
UNIFORMLY ACCELERATED MOTION –
VERTICAL DIMENSION
•Acceleration due to gravity
-acceleration in all free falling objects.
