The Use of Present Continuous ការង្ប្បប្ើ រស់របស់ Present Continuous

1. Actions are happening at the moment of speaking & happening around now.
- They are playing soccer now. (at the moment of speaking)
- She is eating pizza right now. (at the moment of speaking)
- She is working at the moment. (around now)
2. Temporary (សកមមភាពបង្្ ត ោះអាសៃន)
- I am living in Takeo province for a few weeks.
- John is staying with her friend for a week.
- She is working in a restaurant until she finds a good job in his field.
3. Short Term Habit/new habits (ទំលាប់បង្្ត ោះអាសៃន ឬទំលាប់ថ្ៗ
ីម )
- My father is smoking too much.
- My mother is working late every night.
- My wife is eating a lot these days.
*** 4. Personal Future Arrangement (សកមមភាពបង្្ ត ោះអាសៃន)
- John is meeting the doctor tomorrow.
- We’re going to the Angkor Wat temple at the weekend.
- I’m leaving at three.
4. Another present continuous use is for annoying habits (ទំលាប់ន្ែ លួរង្អាយធុៃប្ទៃ់
ឬរ ំខាៃ), when we want to show that something happens too often and we don't like it. In this
case we need to use an adverb like ‘always’ / ‘forever’ / ‘constantly'.
- You’re always losing your keys!
- She’s constantly missing the train.
- He’s always sleeping in.
- They’re forever being late.
Note: We can't use this tense (or any other continuous tense) with State Verbs.
