The table gives information about poverty rates in different types of families in Australia in

1999.
According to the given data, more than 1.8 million families in Australia lived in economic
misfortune in 1999, which formed 11% of the total households. Among them, sole parents and
singles without any child had the highest percentages that lived in hardship.
The sole parent had the highest percentage of share among all types with 21%, followed by 19%
who were single with no children. Couples with children had a 12% share, but their population in
terms of numbers was the highest among all kinds. Around 50 thousand needy families came
from a single aged person and aged couple type families, which formed 6% and 4% of the total
of that family types.
Furthermore, single-aged persons, aged couples, and couples with no children had almost equal
percentages, nonetheless, the population of couples with no children had around four times more
population than a single-aged person and an aged couple.
