Title of lesson Making Mother`s Day greeting cards for 8 th of March

By the end of this lesson students will be able to use the connectors of time (i.e., first, then, next,

after, finally) when describing their project. They will also be able to use imperative forms correctly

when constructing sentences with connectors of time.
Target Connectors of sequence (i.e., First, then, next, after, finally).
Language Imperative form (i.e., Cut, fold, select, listen to me, draw).
Structures New vocabulary: Flowers, scissors, round, corner, design, glue, color paper, draw, leaf and leaves.

Target Content Students will learn to make Mother`s day greeting card and decorate them for 8 th of March holiday.

Materials White paper, blue paper, color paper, scissors, a pen, pencils, a glue.

Students will learn and practice new vocabulary. They will watch their teacher make a
Mother`s day greeting card and listen to her or his instructions in English. They will then follow
Procedure their teacher’s instructions and make a Mother`s day greeting card themselves. Students will make
Mother`s day greeting card and decorate them for their mother.

Task 1 (5 mins): The teacher writes the following new vocabulary on the white board: : Mother`s day
greeting card, flowers, scissors, round, corner, design, glue, color paper, draw, leaf and leaves. . She
(he) then shows students prompts to teach this vocabulary and uses these new words in sentences. She asks
students to come up with their own sentences using new vocabulary.
Task 2 (3- mins): Students have been practicing connectors of sequence for over a week. The
teacher reviews the following connectors of sequence that she will then use as part of her
demonstration: First, then, next, after, finally. The teacher also draws a graphic organizer
containing the connectors of sequence. Students are also familiar with imperative forms, and they have been
practicing them.
Task 3 (4 mins): The teacher demonstrates how to make a Mother`s day greeting card. She (he)
Is following these steps and she(he) write each step on the board so students can follow (please see the
pictures below. They illustrate the sequence of this activity:
1. First, take a 6-inch square piece of color paper.

2. Then, draw flowers and leaves like these.
3. Next, cut flowers and leaves like these.
4. After, cut three green strips (0.5 cm).
We must to glue flowers, leaves, strips on a strong paper
5. Finaly, We must write congratulations.

Task 4 (10 mins): Students are given scissors and paper and they practice cutting out their
Mother`s day greeting card. Their teacher helps them draw designs on their Mother`s day
greeting card before they cut them out. She encourages students to think of their own creative
Mother`s day greeting card designs.

Task 5 (4 mins): The teacher asks one or two students to demonstrate how they make
Mother`s day greeting card in front of the class. She encourages students to use connectors of
sequence and reminds them to use new vocabulary.

Task 6 (10 mins): Students demonstrate to each other how they make Mother`s day greeting
card. They work with a partner, and they tell each other the steps that they need to follow to
make a Mother`s day greeting card

Task 7 (4 mins): Students use glue and color paper to decorate their Mother`s day greeting
card. They use color pens, color pencils and markers for writing and drawing.
The teacher circulates around and listens to students as they ‘teach’ each other how to make
Mother`s day greeting card. She makes sure students are using connectors of time and that they
are using imperative forms correctly.
Assessment
For homework, each student is asked to fill out the graphic organizer containing words ‘first, then,
next, after, finally’. They are asked to write sentences that show the process of creating a Mother`s
day greeting card.

Criteria They will learn new words and study design and make greeting card with their own hands.

 This activity is interesting and engaging to students as they get to create their own Mother`s day

 This activity can be done in March, as students are preparing to celebrate 8 th of March the Women`s
