1. Identify at least three (3) names of authors who gave definitions of Industrial Psychology. Quote
their definitions. Based on these three definitions, make your own definition.

 Specialized knowledge - A thorough understanding of organizational development, attitudes,


career development, decision theory, human performance and human factors, consumer
behavior, small group theory and process, criterion theory and development, job and task
analysis, and individual assessment is required for those with specialized knowledge and training
in the science of behavior in the workplace.
 Problems addressed - concerns with hiring, placing, and training employees; measuring
performance; motivating employees at work and rewarding them; the nature of the work itself;
the structure of the work; human factors; organizational development; and consumer behavior.
 Population served - I/O psychology has a clear focus on how people behave at work.
 Skills and procedures utilized - are scientist practitioners with experience in the planning,
carrying out, and interpreting psychology research who then apply their results to help solve
organizational and human problems in the context of structured work.

3. Give at least four (4) scopes of Industrial Psychology and briefly explain each.

 Economic, Social and Psychological Aspect of the Industry - It investigates the social,
psychological, and economic facets of human behavior. The majority of economic factors today
have some psychological impact.
 Principles of Human Relationships - Despite the introduction of technology in many areas, the
human element cannot be removed. Even the most effective machine need an engineer to
operate it, and because engineers are people, the most crucial psychological component in the
factory's operation cannot be disregarded.
 Study of Aptitudes and Motives - any other situation, attitudes and goals shape and affect how
people behave in the workplace.
 Study of Principles of Mental Health - All sane people understand how crucial it is to keep
workers' health in good condition. The working environment and how other people treat the
employee have an impact on his or her mental health.
