Community Health Teaching Reflection

A community is often defined by its geographic boundaries and thus called a

geographic community. A community demarcated by geographic boundaries becomes a
clear target for analysis of health needs to form basis for planning health programs and
a geographic community is also easily mobilized for action. Community Health Nursing
is a specialized field of nursing that focuses on the health needs of communities,
aggregates, and in particular vulnerable populations. It is a practice that is continuous
and comprehensive directed towards all groups of community members. It combines all
the basic elements of professional, clinical nursing with public health and community
practice.

We chose Barangay Tinga Labac in Batangas as the site of our community

health teaching. In order for us to understand what health issues are currently present in
their community, we conducted interviews with them using a survey form. We are able
to identify those health status and health risks that can greatly affect their health. In line
with this, we come up with a health education that the whole community has the
capability to understand. Giving health education was never easy, starting from
assessment up to implementation. This activity taught me to go down the level of the
community in order to give a health teaching that they can truly use for health promotion
and health prevention.

Finally, I understood how important collaboration is in the medical field. we were able to
use individuals with a variety of traits and skills to develop aneffective program. We
worked well together and communicated clearly to make sure that Every part of our
program ran without a hitch. I learned from this encounter that healthcareis a team
endeavor, and that every program's success depends on the cooperation of
severalhealthcare specialists.
