ARGUMENTATIVE ESSAY
Definition (ayeca) : An argumentative essay is written to express a writer’s opinion about a
controversial issue or topic. In writing argumentative essays, you need to support your
opinion with facts and true experiences to convince the readers to believe your opinion of the
issue. In writing argumentative essays, it is important to remember that no opinion is wrong
as long as you can support it with facts and other meaningful and sensible ideas. Now let’s
move on to the parts of an argumentative essay to be explained by my group mates.

1. Title: The title gives an idea about the essay and and the writer’s opinion about the topic.
It must be catchy or interesting so that people would be curious about the essay.
2. OPENING PARAGRAPH (EXPOSITION): Opening paragraph introduces the topic of the
essay. It must be catchy or interesting so the readers will continue reading the whole essay.
3. BODY (ARGUMENTS): This is where the writer gives or explains the reasons for his/her
opinion about the issue. Which is also called arguments.
4. CLOSING PARAGRAPH (RESTATEMENT OF POSITIONS) : This is the last paragraph of the
essay. In this paragraph, the writer restates or summarizes the important ideas and arguments
in the essay. This is also the part where the writer gives suggestions to the readers who may
be affected by the essay’s topic.
Evaluative
Definition: Evaluative language is one of the languages of argumentative essay.
Evaluative language is a Positive or negative language that judges the worth of
something or someone.  It includes language to express feelings and opinions, to make
judgments about aspects of people such as their behavior, and to assess quality of
objects such as literary works.
To understand more about evaluative language we prepared some situation.

SITUATION NO. 1: positive language

Princess: Hey Jelyn do you know this girl named Casey?
Jelyn: Of course, she's a lovely girl' why did you ask?
Princess: Well I want to get closer to her, she seems to be a Good friend.
Jelyn: your right she is a good friend and you do you want me to help you?
Princess: ofcourse Jelyn, thanks

Charina: hey Andrew have you read the news circulating online?
King: nahh, Why ?you seem bothered.
Charina : well, they look like fake news to me.
King : really? Let me check it later, send the llink to me.
Charina : Sure, bye see you later.

opinion as long as you can support that with an real life experience and evidence. While
