In this hypothetical situation, a teacher is searching for a potential candidate for their
school's upcoming public speaking competition. One particularly brilliant kid was invited to
participate, but lately discovered that she already had another commitment on the same day as the
competition that needs to attend to. How can a student respectfully disagree with a teacher is the
issue.

The teacher talked to that particular student that agreed on the said participation. Little did
she know that their upcoming family reunion was on the same date as the contest. The student
already accepted the teacher’s request then after that she called her father and said about the Public
Speaking Competition. Proudly speaking, the father asked, “when was the competition will be
held?” Then her daughter answered that it will be on March 11, that she didn’t know that it is also
the scheduled date of their upcoming reunion. Now, her father told her that there would be a big
problem because of the aforementioned situation. She instantly understands the situation that’s
why she said to her dad that she will talk to her teacher regarding on that matter. After speaking
with her teacher, she gives her the option to choose which of the preliminary information she
would choose to attend. The student opted on their reunion as expected. Because after a year and
a half, they will finally get together after numerous postponements due to the virus because
COVID-19 has become a major constraint. The teacher acknowledged her decision but also
provided her with the option to contact if she changed her mind and wanted to proceed with the
Public Speaking Competition instead.

As we see from the above-mentioned scenario, good communication can result in a

successful imparting of messages. Even if the student already agreed and lately withdrew her
participation, the teacher understands her because she explained it clearly and reasonably.
