DESIGN REPORT FOR DIGESTER GROUND SLAB

Parameters
Depth of Slab = 1m
Length of tower = 8m
Width o Tower = 4m
Thickness of top slab = 150mm
Concrete grade = C30
Steel Grade = 500N/𝑚𝑚2
Minimum Concrete cover of Slab = 50mm

Assumed bearing capacity of foundation soil = 150KN/𝑚2

NOTE: All structural elements were modelled analysed and designed using the CAD
software Autodesk Robot 2020.
Loadings
Type of container: 20ft
Length of container = 6.06m (20ft)
Width of container = 2.44m (8ft)
a. Self-weight load:
Tare weight of container = 24KN (2.44tons)
Area of container = 6.06 x 2.44 = 14.786
Area load of container = 24 ÷ 14.786 = 1.62KN/𝑚2

b. Load of Machinery inside the container:

Expected maximum load in container = 981KN (100tons)
Area of container = 6.06 x 2.44 = 14.786
Area load of container = 981 ÷ 14.786 = 66.35KN/𝑚2

Calculations
All calculations were done on the software. The structure was completely modelled and the
loads applied. All loads were combined according to BS8110 load combinations. Loads were
combined according to:
1. Ultimate Limit state
2. Serviceability Limit state
3. Fire Resistance
After loads were applied, combined and analysis done, each element was designed to obtain
the required reinforcements.
