Reflection Paper

1. What struck you most?

- What struck me the most is how corruption drastically affects the life of every Filipino
citizens. How there are people who uses their position and power to take advantage of the
marginalized people and uses their power for their own personal good and benefit. How
there are politicians or government employees and staff who does evil to prioritize their
own welfare knowing that there are people who deeply needed it and in dire need of help.
The video showed how bad corruption is in our country and how these people and their
acts lead our country to poverty.

2. How do you feel while watching the video?

- I felt different emotions while watching the video, I felt sad, angry, and sick about the
corrupt activities in the country. It is saddening to know that these corrupt activities had
great impacts on the lives of many Filipino people, how can just little corrupt activities
lead to big and greater problem to the Filipino people. It is provoking to know that the
money corrupted could have been used into greater things to improve the welfare of the
citizens but instead these thieve politicians or government employees and staff stole it
and hinder the possible development and improvement of people’s life and livelihood in
general.

3. What realization did you get in relation to your present predicament today?
- After watching the video, I realized that these evil corrupt activities had deeply affected
our lives. These corrupt activities have underlying negative effects, it increases inequality
and poverty, and it distorts and exploits public investments and reduces public revenues.
Corruption exploits the possibilities of a good tomorrow, it distorts the country’s
innovation and improvement and as a result it affects the welfare and life in general of the
citizen of its country by not providing the enough and right needs an individual should
receive. That is why until now our country is still facing problems about our
infrastructure and system, our healthcare system is not improved even there are tons of
budget allotted to improve our healthcare infrastructure and system. In today’s
predicament, we can clearly see what effects of corruption had brought to our country
especially in the pandemic. And this doings should stop, and it should not definitely
continue.
4. How do you intend to do with these realizations?)
- This realizations I’ve made or been brought upon because of this video is a very
essential to me and a very relevant topic to tackle about especially in today’s context
of society where corruption is still prevalent. Being aware of this corrupt activities
happening in the government institutions gives us the urge to fight for what is right
and seek justice for the marginalized people in ending these injustices in the
government made by these corrupt and thieve politicians and government employees
or staffs.
